“Okay stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

The hotel is located not that near to the train station. I think it is a good 10 to 15 mins walk. We arrived when it had recently snowed and it was not easy dragging our luggage on snow covered road. We were not given good instructions on how to get to the hotel and got lost. But we managed to find our way there eventually. No lifts so be prepared to carry your luggage up. Room is a bit small. We had trouble placing our two large suitcases. There is no kettle and no hair dryer in the room. But you can borrow a hair dryer and also ask for a hot water flask from the reception. Reception is closed at 9 pm so you have to make sure that you have what you want or you have to wait till the next morning.
Breakfast was okay.....but I think they had guests who takes food out of the room. The lady was keeping watch on all of the guests to make sure that the food stays in the room! You can see the Matterhorn when you step out of the main entrance. But for the price (CHF110.00 per night), it is one of the most reasonable priced hotel in Zermatt.
Value for money.

“Perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

This is a great hotel with an owner who could not make you feel more welcomed to do more to make sure you enjoy your stay. Rooms are clean and comfortable. We came a day before our reservation when weather forced us down from our hike. We were accommodated and they then stored luggage for us when we went back out to finish the final two days of the Haute Route before returning for another night. Solid breakfast. Great location. You should stay here.

“Great Services with excellent services will come back again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2011

The owner is kind enough as we opted for a sharing bath room room but in the end he has provided us a room with a very nice private bath room. myself and my hubby is really grateful with that.
The breakfast is excellent with ham, eggs, corn flakes , coffees etc,
The room is clean enough and comfortable for two.
I will value this hotel as the best hotel which is not only worth for 3 star but instead 4 star and above with such great services,

“just what we needed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2011

the hotel Tannenhof was all we could find at a low price that hadn't already been fully booked. We arrived on a rainy day and had just a little trouble finding the place, because it is not off the main road. The rooms are substantial and beds were comfortable. there is NOT an elevator, and the steps must be a very old marble that the owner cherishes because he does not like luggage rolling up the steps. the owner seemed to be friendly enough though I didn't agree with his high price for poor quality WiFi ( poor because it only works in the down stair lobby). I will say that the breakfast is a variety and enjoyable, except for the staff lady that watches over everything you take from the breakfast table. Her concern is that you are packing yourself a lunch using their breakfast cuts of meat and breads, she will even accuse you of doing so and will tell you to go to the bakery and buy a sandwich for lunch. Yes, I was accused of this, after traveling all over Europe i have found that I enjoy a sandwich with yogurt for breakfast because it holds me over the whole day if it must. All in all I would recommend if you only need a night but next time I will book much more in advance and somewhere else.
