now, this is something out of the ordinary and no world traveler's book is complete without including Zermatt and its Matterhorn, King-mountain of the Alps. I had the great luck to arrive on a sunny late-summer day, and alone the train ride by the famous Glacier Express was an unforgettable experience. Zermatt, a famous ski resort, is just as worthwhile in the Summer. There are no motorcars, which have to be left behind in a huge parking house one village below. It's a chalet village. For those who cannt or don't want to walk, there are electromobile taxis, but everything is in walking distance.I chose this hotel because it sounded reasonably priced, but I was pleasantly surprised at the beauty of the place and the room, all antique-modern in wood, original and in good taste. Small lobby but large bar on the first floor, expanding onto the balcony. Sipping a Campari, watching the busy main street below, belongs to those simple exquisite pleasures of life. Due to some invitation, I shall ever regret, not having had the chance to try the restaurant, which proposed some lavish treats. But the rich breakfast is well remembered and I am firmly intended to return. The service is efficient and friendly in four languages. When I called them I had forgotten my telephone loader on the socket, it arrived next day in the mail, which proves they care for you.
