“Perfect location, great service, a real find in a beautiful mountain resort”

This was my second stay in 3 weeks and and 3rd in 2 years at the amazing Hotel Schweizerhof. Bettina and her team, especially the concierge group headed by Jose, are incredible. They greeted us personally on arrival and always addressed us by name. Our rooms were perfect with views of the Matterhorn. Breakfast is a real feast with a massive choice of meats, chesses, cereals, breads, fruit etc.
The ski-room guy is very helpful: We had sent out skis on ahead (one of the great services that CFF Swiss railways offer) and they were collected from the station by Jose, then serviced by ski-room guy and ready and waiting for us when we got there Sunday lunchtime.
The wellness centre is a great place to unwind with a large pool. And for the post ski treatments including excellent massages there's no need to leave the hotel!
In the afternoon after a hard days skiing, delicious home-made cakes and tea are provided complimentary.
So with it's perfect location, great service, excellent food friendly, helpful staff, what more could you ask for. Just don't tell everyone or I'll never get another booking there at the last-minute!!

Room Tip: Ask for a Matterhorn view - you might get lucky

“Superb Stay!”

Just a few steps away from the Zermatt Station, i was pleasantly surprised that they had electric motor vehicles to cart baggage since other forms of motor vehicles are prohibited!

Very central, bang in the heart of the main street! One of the prettiest streets i have ever seen. Even the Mc Donald's sign seemed inconspicuous among the pretty flowers hanging from every window of the hotels and business on that street.

The sitting area was very comfortable, staff very helpful. The room on the ground level opened out into a garden area where one could enjoy the sun if they wished. Comfortable rooms. Bathroom not so snazzy. Could have been brighter...

Room Tip: Higher floor facing the street would give some a nice view of the happenings below..

The hotel entrance is between tourist shops. Don't let this fool you. It is a well appointed and attended accommodation. The Alpine decor is very nice and the staff is helpful. I would stay here again.

“Perfect location and experience”

We were a group of 25 people who went to Zermatt for a long weekend from Thursday to Sunday in March 2011. We couldn't have been happier! The hotel is located in the middle of the main street, with large rooms, a large bath and a balcony. We spent a lot of time there, watching both the Matterhorn and the people life in the street. When I finished my stay with a morning stop in the spa and pool before check-out, it was the ending of a perfect stay.

The hotel is quite large, but the staff treats you like it is a family hotel, and were both friendly and professional. We relaxed and enjoyed ourselves both in the restaurant and the lobby bar.

Only electrical cars are allowed in the town, which makes it quiet and peaceful. The hotel has ski rental in the basement, and the people are very helpful, which makes everything very easy.

From the hotel, there is just a short walk to the Gornergrat train and all the nice shops in the town. In the afternoon you find all the nice restaurants and bars just a few minutes walk away. You can't ask for more, and will not be disappointed if you chose the Hotel Schweizerhof.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony against the street, to watch the sunrise of Matterhorn and the people...

“One Of THe Best Hotels I Have Stayed In”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

We stayed in the Schweizerhof for 3 nights as part of our tour of Switzerland in September and I must admit it is one of my favorite hotels.
It is located in the main street in Zermatt with shops fronting the lower floor. The location is perfect for strolling and shopping as there is no up hill walking and the train station and Gornergrat station is within 2 minutes of the hotel.
The hotel is spread over 3 buildings and we were given a suite overlooking the garden terrace at the back of the hotel which was perfect and quiet with a great view of the Matterhorn.
Although this is a large hotel it didn't have the feeling of a large establishment and all the staff were welcoming and respectful. The public areas are very well done with lots of art on the walls and the lounge area had a comfortable feel to it.
The Schweizerhof has its own swimming pool in the basement which was welcoming after a hard day on the mountain.
The room we had was huge and had the biggest corner bath I have seen. An added bonus was the big balcony that we sat on in the evening. I really enjoyed staying in this hotel and would highly recommend it if you are looking to stay in Zermatt in the future.
