The Hotel enjoys a location which is convenient for a ski holiday. Although it's a bit removed from the town a bus stop is very close and the hotel will provide a taxi to the Matterhorn express lift. The Station and Sunnegga lift are both within reasonable walking distance.
The rooms we stayed in were spacious and well appointed but a little tired.
The restuarant provides one of this hotel's highlights serving food of excellent quality with generous quantity. The ski locker room was the best we have ever seen in the Alps. The Wellness centre was excellent, especially the swimming pool. The friendly and efficient Staff create an ambience that would encourage another visit. One of the best hotels we have used in Zermatt.

The Best Western Alpen Resort Hotel Zermatt in Switzerland is a very nice hotel. The room we had was big enough, it was somewhat dated but there is a renovation plan, the beds are perfect, a good size TV, free WLAN internet and best of all an astonishing view at the Matterhorn mountain. The staff is dedicated to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The people at the reception are very helpful, the breakfast is good, the diner is even better, every night the chef prepares a broad choice of very good meals and they have an excellent variety of wines. After your dinner, Gennaro behind the bar, with a number of good whisky’s and grappa’s and Julan at the keyboards will entertain your evening. The management, Inge and Jörg take great interest in there guests, how there day was, if everything is OK etc. The hotel is situated close by two of the three ski areas of Zermatt (Sunnegga and Gornergrat), the third area the Matterhorn glacier paradise is at the other side of the village, the reception can call an electric taxi or you can use the ski bus. Looking forward to stay in this hotel again next year.

The staff and owner of this hotel cannot do enough for you during your stay and make this a very pleasant experience. We have just returned from our 5th visit and are planning another return trip shortly. Food and facilities are great and the hotel is in a good location just outside the resort centre and near the train station

The Alpen Resort hotel looked after my friends and I during a week long sking holiday; and did it to a high standard. They seemed to go that little bit further. Whether it was a dinner time chat with manager, friendly service at the bar or a meal choice outside of the set menu (if it wasn't to your taste), nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Very good facilities, great service and a friendly atmosphere make this a hotel that I want to go back to.
