We spent a night here recently with our two children in between two rentals on Lake Como. I cannot speak highly enough of the lovely staff at this hotel, who are very helpful and caring , so I am sorry to have to say that despite the welcome we found our stay here a bit of a let down. Whilst it is true that the location and views are terrific, the standard of the hotel interior wasn't great for the price. We had two tiny adjoining rooms last decorated in the 60s or 70s. Pity they didn't do the rooms at the same time as the bathrooms, which were nice. The smaller room was really only big enough for one single bed so with two in it it was really hard to move around and you had to go through this room to the double - it was claustrophobic - and irritating that the TV was in the kids' room. The pool is a real plus - very clean, sunny and a good size, but the pool area, like some of the other areas seemed a bit sad and neglected. No pool towels provided in rooms or by the pool, and the ancient looking loungers had no cushions so were unuseable. Elsewhere piles of broken and disused equipment were stored on terraces in guests' view. We were really lucky that it was a nice evening so we could eat outside as the dining room was dim and old fashioned. The set menu costs 39 Swiss francs and the food was OK, nothing special. The breakfast on the other hand was very good with a huge choice of foods including lots of lovely breads and rolls. Overall we felt the place had seen better days and could do with a bit of investment and attention to detail. I know this is Switzerland but the bill was a lot for what we'd had and I'm afraid I wouldn't recommend a friend to stay here.
