Most of this hotel is a hostel, with common bathrooms, but the top floor has rooms with balconies and en suite bathrooms that are super at the price.

The room is not huge, but it is very clean. The balcony can fit up to 8 people - we tried it! A bit of a squish, but worth the view.

This is not a luxury hotel, but for the view, location and cleanliness - and service - it is wonderful value for the money.

If you ask well in advance, the hotel has one or two of their own parking spots in their street that you can pre-book.

Leaving your key in reception is a part of the fire safety routines of the hotel. Also, given the size of the keys, it is very practical! The reception is manned 24/7

Due to the hotel being the meeting place for the local AA, they do not serve alchohol in their restaurant, but they do have some wine that you can order and take to your room.

The location is overly excellent with only a 5-10 minute walk to the old center and to the ferry dock.

Some complain that the hotel is noisy. What do you expect being so close to EVERYTHING? If you stay in the top floor rooms, the noise is a bit lessened by the distance. There are also special blinds you can pull down to reduce the noise even more.

There is nothing that I really liked in this hotel, at the same time, there is nothing I really hated.
The rates are cheaper than other 3 star hotels in town, about 55 euros a night including breakfast, but rooms are tiny with furniture of the 60ies (a bit squalid, but I've seen worse). Besides the price, which was really affordable taking into consideration that in Switzerland prices are higher than in Italy, the other pro of this hotel was that it was located in the town centre, just opposite the Casino, so it's easy enough to walk to the shopping areas.
Breakfast was cheap and nasty, poor quality, but filling. You know, I had to spend 1 night only in Lugano, I was there to work so I didn't bother that much about the hotel. But I wouldn't pick it for my holidays.

This hotel is ideal for central 'Lugano trip
not modern and communal shower and toilet so not ideal for privacy.
No wifi in hotel nearest is by Lugano Lake or Pay 5chf for 30 mins

the fact of everyone walking around in communal corridors with nothing on to shower or toilet is not really my scene.

We spent three days in this small hotel located near the Casino and the Lake. The room was nice and clean but very small, especially the bathroom. The hotel has no garage or parking spaces so you have to park in a nearby garage (cheap only if you leave the car there all the time, not if you have to use it during your stay). The staff was kind and breakfast ok. All in all, a good bargain, considering prices in Lugano, but nothing really outstanding.
