I have been staying at this hotel a week every summer for the past 15 years or so. All my family members enjoy staying here. This is an establishment that is well managed and you see this in the personalized service and in the developments that the hotel undergoes regularly. Step outside the hotel and you're only a few steps away from Piazza della Riforma with its lovely little restaurants and boutiques, and the lake is a 5-minute walk away. Don't miss breakfast here!

The hotel is 4 star, but is a far cry better than the few 5 star hotels I've stayed in. It is relatively small, situated right in the middle of Lugano and has excellent valet parking facility. We'd bought a New Year special deal for the three of us with a mini suite. The suite was spacious, super-clean and very well equipped. Almost everything is free at this hotel. Free soft drinks, free coffee/tea, free and easily accessible hazzle-free SUPER FAST WIFI, free sweets, etc. The breakfast buffet was excellent and had far more than the usual cakes you get for breakfast in most Italian hotels.

Not least, every member of the staff were kind and attentive, but NOT servile.

From the other reviews of this hotel I see that we share this experience with other guests. This hotel deserves every praise!

From the moment that we arrived, we were greeted warmly and told of the many benefits of staying there - free non alcoholic minibar, 24h snacks and cakes in reception plus free hot drinks. Free wifi for guests (quick, too) - the most legendary breakfast outside of Vegas (and it was free)!
The room was superb - we had a cosy one, but it was lovely. The decor would not have been our immediate choice as we love very contemporary styling but this was so great -like being inside a lush theatrical setting- gold and red! It was decadent and classy!
Rooms were also completely soundproofed and the curtains were blackout - a must for us!
Location was perfect - right by the exit of the funicular from the station and a very short walk to the lake.
All in all it could not have been better. We see they have one of these hotels in Milan and will be sure to stay there and definitely return to the Lugano Dante centre.

Excellent location, across the Lugano train station. The funicular IS at the train station ITSELF) Take it - a mere 3 -minute ride( I think) and steps away is the hotel. There are lovely shops very near the hotel. U can also stroll around the lake. Lugano is really beautiful and nice. More Asians should visit it and stay for a few days instead of passing through it.
I chose this hotel because my family wanted to shop at FOXTOWN, which is merely afew train stops and a short walk from Mendrisio station .If that is your plan, look no further- stay here! The delicious breakfast the hotel offers fires the imagination of every child. The children and teenagers will be excited to return to the hotel, with its candy treats, complimentary afternoon snacks (We even had an espresso machine in the suite)
This Swiss hotel makes u feel that they delight in making u happy! Unbelievable! I think the management should get all the praise for it ! WELL DONE ! We even found 2 rubber duckies in the sink when we checked in with a note saying it hopes to bring a smile to our faces. Can u believe it ? The staff are incredible. Everyone, from the lady who cleans ur room, the staff who meets u at the corridor and the front desk - all greet u ( even if they can easily ignore u ) and really seemed happy to see us. I must say When I visited Switzerland five years ago and met a very nasty old lady who scolded me for reasons I did not understand (Was she purposely nasty to people who happened to look different from her ? I was just shopping at the supermarket - helping the Swiss economy !), I was very upset and had adverse opinions of Swiss people (That's why it took 5 years to pluck up courage to visit Switzerland again). The staff at this hotel understands travellers often feel tired and need some pampering. So this Dante hotel makes me love Switzerland and like Swiss people again. The kindness ,friendliness and sincerity of the staff moved me. Thank you for those lovely memories of Switzerland !
