I was very disappointed during my recent stay. Yes, the location was fine but the place reeks of cigarette smoke. When I told the reception desk that I had requested a non-smoking room, they said there is no such thing at the hotel. They offered me an air purifier but that, as well as leaving a window open, did nothing. Also, the breakfast buffet was disappointing and if you went down towards the latter end of the breakfast period, you would find thay they did not replenish the buffet.

Just returned from the Club hotel Davos foloowing a one week stay. Staff were friendly, and the food was good . They are fond of charging for everything from parking to use of the squash court even with one`s own gear, and you pay extra for a boiled egg at breakfast 1.50 swiss francs, charged to the room !!
We could deal with that fair enough it is Switzerland after all, the epitome of overcharging but the big problem with this hotel is evident as soon as one enters the front door.
DO NOT go near this hotel unless you are a smoker and are used to cigarette smoke .
The lobby stinks, there are ashtrays everywhere. You are trying to enjoy your meal in the so called smoke free dining area which is the same spac as the lobby/bar wher everyone is smoking. There is no smoke free area to relax in the evening . We were forced to venture into the town for an after meal coffee as the lobby is unbearable.
Whence the single star rating for cleanliness.(dirty ashtrays and stink of smoke)

The whole somking issue seems to be something the Swiss and Austrians have problems coming to terms with while the rest of Europe has moved into the 21st century.

This hotel certainly falls into that category.

Went to Davos for a pre-Christmas ski break with a friend. Found the Club Hotel on Booking.com and booked it as it appeared to be reasonably priced. The Club Hotel is located on a continuation of the main Promenade in the centre of Davos Platz 5 - 8 minutes walk from Davos Platz station and 8 - 10 minutes from the Jakobshornbahn cable car. Reception staff were friendly and welcoming. My room, a double for single occupancy, was very spacious with a sofa, coffee table, small dining table with 2 chairs and ample storage space. It was fantastically warm with underfloor heating. It opened on to a south facing balcony, little used given that the outside temperature ranged from -17C to -22C over the five days we were in Davos. The bathroom was well proportioned with a large bath and plenty of hot water. Minor niggles were that the taps on the washbasin and the bath were a bit fiddly and more lighting was needed above the bath as, with the shower curtain closed, it was very dark. Service at breakfast and mealtimes was a bit erratic and not particularly warm but the bar staff were friendly enough and at 5 CHF for a large beer, you wouldn't want to drink anywhere else in a pricey town. For an extra 18 CHF for dinner we ate in on 2 nights of our stay. Fondue one night and 4 very good courses another. Yes having to eat between 6-8pm is quite restrictive and it is farly simple fare, but for value for money it can't be beaten especially as it's quite easy to leave 25 CHF up the mountain for a bowl of spaghetti. All in all a clean, comfortable, warm and reasonably priced hotel in the centre of one of Europ's glitzest resorts,

The hotel was in a convenient location just 5-10 minutes walk from the Ski Lifts. Bus stops were in front of the hotel. Shops, bars, restaurants & cash points were only a few minutes away. We only went B&B, the breakfast was a basic continental breakfast but we found the hotel great value for money. There are some nice restaurants in the nearby area anyway. It is very 1970's & basic but our room & all of the public areas we visited in the hotel were spotlessly clean. We've already looked at booking again....
