“Amazing hotel, above and beyond service, gorgeous scenery!”

My husband and I ended up going to Davos Switzerland while already on our month long Europe trip. Had we known what Waldhotel Davos offered and how beautiful and stunning Davos was, we would have stayed longer! Great customer service. The pool, sauna, etc. was AMAZING! Only thing that I could say that would improve anything at all would just be a fresh coat of paint and a spruce up, and this place would be even more unbelievable. We've already recommended the hotel to a relative, and hope to go back!

Room Tip: The view towards town and the mountains is worth it!

“Good Service, stylish suites with stunning views”

The first nice touch was to send a hotel vehicle to pick us up at the train station when we called (actually the lady at the swiss train counter called for us, Swiss Rail really is convenient !!). Next they upgraded us to a Junior Suite which was spacious and stylish. The balcony was big and had a very nice view of the town. The bathroom had a glass wall facing the room and the balcony. I guess Davos only becomes busy at world economic forum and in skiing season as there was no way I could get this suite in 216 euro otherwise. We took the half board option which was decent and also the hotel is a on a bit of a hill so in the evening its convenient. The hotel run its shuttles in day time towards the town center and there is also a public bus which we didn't try. We also tried the spa which had a salt water pool in a steam room. All the staff were very well groomed and the service was excellent. We almost thought of canceling our forward trip and increasing our stay at the Waldhotel for a day more !

Room Tip: higher the better i guess

“Close to Perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

When we arrived, it was already late, dark, rainy, and we were extremely tired. Perhaps that's why we initially thought the neighbourhood seemed a bit sketchy (driving past a boarded-up construction site not far from the hotel didn't help) and the hotel looked a bit plain from the outside.

However, initial impressions can be deceptive, and this was the case here. When we walked in, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and, in fact, produced our first surprise of the evening - we were upgraded to a Junior Suite at no charge. As we found out the next morning, the view from its spacious balcony was absolutely stunning.

The suites themselves are well appointed, too, and the bathrooms are especially nice. The only (very minor) caveat for us was that the pillows were much too soft, but putting a provided bathrobe underneath solved the problem.

Our next pleasant surprise was the included free breakfast. We expected the regular fare - but the selection and the quality were just outstanding. This was quite possibly the best buffet breakfast we've had anywhere, and sitting at a table with a magnificent view of the mountain valley Davos is located in was a nice finishing touch. You get no pre-packaged, standard products in the breakfast - everything seems to be gourmet/hand picked, and feels as if it came from a high-end restaurant. We even had a selection of fish, including salmon, for breakfast!

If we're ever back in Davos, we'd be strongly inclined to stay at Waldhotel again - it was a very pleasant and memorable experience.

Like:
- Incredible view from a large, spacious balcony with recliners.
- The best buffet breakfast we've had anywhere.
- Very friendly and courteous staff.
- Well-appointed suites and bathrooms.

(Minor) Dislike:
- Pillows were too soft.
- The heaters were very unusual to us, and a quick note in English on how to adjust them would be helpful. :)

Room Tip: Go for a room with a view of Davos, you won't regret it. :)

“The best!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2011

We splurged and stayed in a junior suite. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted with friendliness and efficiency, and that remained true throughout our weekend stay. The staff can't do enough to make your stay as pleasant as possible.

Upon entering our room, we both went WOW! The design is clearly focused around letting you see the wonderful view from everywhere in the room. Even the outer "wall" of the balcony was of glass. I will add a couple of pictures to show what I mean.

The room was also spotlessly clean - and there was a note of greeting and a fruit basket as well.

We had opted for the half board dinner on the Friday, and, as much as hubby and I have eaten restaurant food, this meal was above and beyond. The menu was limited to a few choices for each of the 4 courses, but there was something for everyone - whether you like spicy or not. I will present one example of how good this chef is: Neither hubby nor I like ginger, yet we were wishing we weren't in public, so we could lick the bowl of carrot and ginger soup we had!

During our whole weekend, our slightest request was cheerfully heard and quickly followed up, no matter what "layer" of the staff we spoke with. I don't think I have ever experienced such overall cheerfulness, helpfulness, hospitality and professionalism.

The hotel offers various events throughout the year. We are sorely tempted by the one-week cooking course. That chef is a genius!

We had a tad of trouble finding the hotel with out GPS, as the Waldhotel link on it was off. but once you get into the right part of town, the hotel itself is easy to spot against the forest and there are plenty of signs to guide you there once you get close.

Parking was ample and outdoors, but you can see your car from the room, and this is a very peaceful area.

I realize that I am bubbling over with praise for this hotel, but it does deserve it. I am not surprised at all that it is voted the best hotel in Davos by the users here.

Okay - I can give one little complaint: the bathtub was not comfy to lay back in, Could be helped by supplying some sort of pillow to put behind your back and head.

Room Tip: The higher the floor, the greater the view.
