The position of the Esplanade is wonderful. High above Davos with views of the town and the mountains in a very quiet zone. There is a lovely airy sunroom, with comfortable couches and chairs, where you can sit and look at the wonderful scenery. In winter, with snow, it must be breathtaking. The staff were very welcoming and efficient. As it was summer we were given free passes for the buses, trains, cable cars, etc. The hotel also runs its own bus service into town. Most useful as it is situated away from the noisy centre of town. Our room was one of the corner rooms and most spacious with an en-suite containing a bathtub with shower over and twin sinks. Lots of room to lay out toiletries and an opening window. The double bed came with 2 very firm single mattresses and individual soft feather duvets plus the large "continental style" feather pillows. There was a luggage stool, spacious wardrobe with lots of hangers, nice big desk and 2 chairs. Sadly, the flat screen TV had only CNN in English. We had opted for half board which included afternoon tea, dinner and breakfast. We arrived half an hour after afternoon tea had finished but, on request, were given tea and cakes at no extra cost. Dinner was four courses, beautifully served in a dining room with views of the mountains. The food was excellent but the wine was not cheap. Breakfast was served in the same room and offered a great selection of cold meats & cheeses, cereals, breads and boiled eggs. Most of the eggs were soft boiled but if you prefer hard, then just ask. We only stayed one night but this would be a lovely unpretentious place to spend a week enjoying the local sights.

We stayed here one night as part of a large group of car enthusiasts traveling across Europe. They greated us warmly and were very helpful. Some members of the party were delayed and missed the wonderful set meal but were accomodated later. The Hotel seemed to be undergoing major improvements for the coming season and the underground parking pedestrian access was not quiet completed but to even have undercover parking was an unexpected bonus. Breakfast was great too.

The hotel was functional and had recently refurbished. Was a perfectly lovely place to stay for the price.
