This hotel is owned by Riet and Kathrin Freywho are very gifted hoteliers. They have created a hotel which runs with the efficiency of a swiss watch but is still charming and has "personality". Herr Frey is generally in his office and, if so, comes out and greets you personally on your arrival. He is also is in the dining room in the evening and visits each table to say "good evening". You know they care and want you to enjoy your stay.
The furniishing style is a blend of old and modern which works well to provide a stylish but comfortable ambience. The staff are all very good at their jobs and are completely delightful;; nothing is too much trouble. Over the years we have stayed at the Meierhof several times and the standard has been consistently exemplary. The food, wine and service in the hotel dining room is always of a very high standard. There is also an a la carte restaurant but, never having tried it, all we can say is that it always seems to be well patronised by people who look like they have very much enjoyed their meal.
We stay there to ski and the hotel is handy either to walk to the Parsennbahn which accesses the main Davos/Klosters ski area or to catch the bus to the Jakobshorn or Rinerhorn (the bus stop is adjacent to the hotel).
The hotel is on the main road but Davos has a sort of one way system for all but buses and the traffic is neither busy nor speedy. This coupled with the fact that the rooms are very well insulated means the traffic noise is minimal. We live in the country and have no traffic noise at home but we find we are not disturbed by the hotel being on the road even though we sleep with the window open.
The leisure complex is state of the art for relaxation.
This is a charming hotel and excellent value for money. We love it and you will as well.
