“A hotel which really cares about its guests.”

This hotel is owned by Riet and Kathrin Freywho are very gifted hoteliers. They have created a hotel which runs with the efficiency of a swiss watch but is still charming and has "personality". Herr Frey is generally in his office and, if so, comes out and greets you personally on your arrival. He is also is in the dining room in the evening and visits each table to say "good evening". You know they care and want you to enjoy your stay.
The furniishing style is a blend of old and modern which works well to provide a stylish but comfortable ambience. The staff are all very good at their jobs and are completely delightful;; nothing is too much trouble. Over the years we have stayed at the Meierhof several times and the standard has been consistently exemplary. The food, wine and service in the hotel dining room is always of a very high standard. There is also an a la carte restaurant but, never having tried it, all we can say is that it always seems to be well patronised by people who look like they have very much enjoyed their meal.
We stay there to ski and the hotel is handy either to walk to the Parsennbahn which accesses the main Davos/Klosters ski area or to catch the bus to the Jakobshorn or Rinerhorn (the bus stop is adjacent to the hotel).
The hotel is on the main road but Davos has a sort of one way system for all but buses and the traffic is neither busy nor speedy. This coupled with the fact that the rooms are very well insulated means the traffic noise is minimal. We live in the country and have no traffic noise at home but we find we are not disturbed by the hotel being on the road even though we sleep with the window open.
The leisure complex is state of the art for relaxation.
This is a charming hotel and excellent value for money. We love it and you will as well.

“A very well-run hotel with an excellent team of staff”

Our fouth trip to Davos and our first to this hotel. The hotel is very conveniently located on the main street not far from Dorf Bahnhof and the bus stops are just outside the hotel. (Summer transport is free now in Davos/Klosters!). However there is no traffic noise, the rooms must be well-insulated as we didn't hear the 3 children in the next room either.
We paid for a superior room with balcony: we had a lovely large bed, enormous wardrobes and plenty of hangers (not those awful fixed things - my personal horror); the bathroom was excellent and even had a "proper" hairdryer. There was a separate seating area with sofa and table and chairs - no shuffling around each other at this hotel!
The service was first-class - friendly and polite at all times. This applies to reception, room staff, pool staff and especially to the staff waiting at table. They were so smiley!
I have to have gluten-free food and this was provided for me at breakfast and dinner with such willingness. We were on half-board and we very much enjoyed the beautiful dinners in the restaurant. Although there was no listed choice of menu in fact the chef would always prepare an alternative if one wished.
Most of the guests were either British package dealers with Kuoni or Swiss and German on coach tours. The coach parties were seated in the large dining room whereas we sat in the more inviting and intimate restaurant which we much appreciated.

“Swiss hospitality at its best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2010

I stayed here for only 1 night, but was extremely impressed with all aspects of this hotel: staff, service, food, rooms, ambience, and location. The hotel is rated 4 stars, but it feels like five. Rooms are very comfortable and have all the amenities including free internet. Breakfast was fantastic and the whole hotel is so beautiful inside that you almost don't want to go out and enjoy the delights of the area. A lovely place to stay. Service and staff first-rate.

“Perfect home away from home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2010

Family owned and family run hotel with about 50 rooms, 2 minutes by foot from the village station of the Parsenn cablecar. When in Davos, we always stay at the Meierhof as the hotel is rustic without beeing dated, cosey without being heavy and it's bang in the middle of the village without the noise some hotels a bit further down the Promenade where the bars and nightlife are. Nice a la carte restaurant and less stylish but very good value for money half board restaurant. The Meierhof has an indoor pool, children play room and a small spa with massage and sauna.

“Swiss hospitality in Davos”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 March 2010

We stayed at Hotel Meierhof for a week and thus had enough time to experience all its ups and downs. All in all, the hotel is well worth the 4 stars it has and also offers a few nice touches, such as free use of swimming pool and several saunas until late in the evening and complimentary herb tea with cakes in the afternoon (the best thing after a cold day in the mountains!).
Rooms – the 3 double rooms we saw were all very spacious, clean, quiet, and warm. We especially liked having a big bathtub and a balcony. The only thing to turn extra attention to is the towel-changing procedure: being a nature-friendly person, I don’t need a new towel every day, so I hung it up nicely with the intention to re-use it (this was the instruction as well). Despite that, we still got new towels every day:)
Restaurant – having pre-ordered the dinner for each evening, we experienced a gourmet dinner of 5-courses from fish to veal and ostrich, so everything was excellent. However, white wine was always served at room-temperature and I had to ask for ice every evening to cool it down.
Breakfast – nice selection of everything, I especially enjoyed the mixture of fruit, muesli, youghurt and various seeds. And the bread buns were delicious! From downside, there were almost no fresh vegetables and the hot dishes were limited to scrambled eggs and bacon. As it turned out in the last morning, other hot dishes could have been ordered as well without extra charge, but unfortunately there was no info about that.
Reception – there was no one behind the counter for most of the time, but they magically appeared after ringing the bell:) One of the girls (maybe she was new) gave us the wrong directions and another one made us wait for 10 minutes because she was on the phone, but other than that – all ok.
If planning to spend a lot of time skiing, then Hotel Meierhof is an excellent choice – only 50 meters from the mountain railway stop with its own ski-room (with boot-drying option). I’m sure it’s just as nice in the summer, though.
