Stayed for 3 nights as part of a walking holiday. Thought the hotel was great, good room and facilities. The food was good and the waiting staff were lovely and very efficient. Also special mention to the Portugese bar manager who was also lovely.

There were a lot of big groups, which made the dining room feel busy. But this effect the service at all.

Impression you get is that this is a large and very efficiently and professionally run place. Room and balcony pretty good, service friendly and professional, bathroom fine. A good feature was the shuttle service to the cable car stations, since they are quite far away from each other in Davos. Negative point was that the saunas were only open at a surcharge to hotel guests, which was disappointing. Add 2CHF to the room charge instead and let everyone use it. Minor gripe though, generally you are in safe hands here.

This hotel provided our accommodation for the final part of our glacier express honeymoon tour. As a larger hotel it had obvious benefits eg. leisure facilities. We were an awful lot younger than the other guests staying at the sunstar. This was not a problem but walks and entertainment was geared to the older age groups staying here. Food was exceptional at the sunstar. Breakfasts were vast and evening meals were of an excellent quality with multiple choices. The Swiss national day special menus were a real treat and helped us to get into the spirit of the national holdiay. The view from our room was good but the room itself was very dated and not really what i would have expected as we had paid for an upgrade on all rooms when booking our holiday. The room was however very clean and the complimentary mini bar and turn down service did make things more special. Staff at the hotel were exceptionally friendly from the Director down to the lovely waitress who served us each day. A good hotel but just lacking in some of the charm gained from a smaller hotel.

Good location, close to railway station, and they also provide a bus shuttle service, which is useful with heavy luggage. Excellent and friendly service. Great views from the balcony. Very good breakfast. Free cocktail hour in the lobby every Monday evening. Also, the room minibar is free.
