If in Davos choose the Waldhuus, for its charming staff, cleanliness, great food, warmth. Once you stay there you will be coming back like ourselves...it's simply the best there is...even if you just drop in for a meal like we sometimes do, you will be pleasantly surprised by the wonderful atmosphere...

My husband and I decided to go skiing for New Year's at almost the last minute. We checked for availability at the Waldhuus, and they had only one room left--a classic room. We booked it but were not really looking forward to the room because of the negative reviews on how tiny the classic room is. Off we went for 4 nights determined to make the best out of whatever was waiting for us. Is the classic room small? Yes. But the storage space due to a large wall closet was more than enough...even with two suitcases and all of our skiing gear. Not only did everything fit easily into the closet, but the suitcases themselves stored nicely on top so that we were not tripping over them.

The bed was incredibly comfortable, and even though the room was small, it had everything we needed. Also, because of the beautiful, loft-style timbered ceiling, the room had a great feeling to it! There was even a balcony for fresh air and to watch the snow fall on the mountain.

The service at this hotel is absolutely top notch! The reception even provided us with our lift tickets for the mountains. Anything we asked for was gladly greeted with a smile and graciousness.

Although the menu is small, it is impeccable.

The spa is peaceful and perfect after a day on the mountail...or just because!

Free shuttle service is offered back and forth to Jakobshorn and Parsenn mountains. There is even a ski room downstairs complete with boot warmers--free of charge--to store your snowy gear and make sure it is dry before your next trip out.

I cannot over-recommend this hotel. It was perfect.

It is often difficult to write an unbiased review of the same property, when one traveler stays in a standard room, while another enjoys the best room the hotel has to offer. So let me preface this review by saying that we stayed in a senior suite and that I am a member of Starwood's loyalty programme. The room, views and facilities were terrific. The staff good, and the general manager, exceptionally welcomming and gracious.
We stayed half board and would say the breakfasts were good and as expected. Diners, however, were usually more appetising and abundant on weekends. But overall ok. This hotel is a little out of the way. An easy walk in summer, but at a bitterly cold minus fifteen, not so easy. The hotel shuttle will take you to the two main lifts at opposite ends of town, but Jacobshorn [not spelled correctly] is better for beginners and families. Most ski rental places are, in my opinion, a rip-off, but so be it. Coop, the local major supermarket is great, as are the immediate shops close by. The hotel has a good, clean and large swimming pool and somewhat of a kids "club". Overall, comfortable and reliable. But if you want to step out the front door and into the casino, look elsewhere.
I would [and so would many other travellers we met] stay here again and again.

We stayed at this hotel about 4 or 5 years ago and I had not starting writing reviews at that time so I never wrote one. This was of the friendliest and cleanest hotels we stayed at on that trip to Switzerland and Italy. We stayed with Starwood points and were upgraded to a nice minisuite even though we were staying on points.TThe staff weas very courteous and friendly!
