“Premium hotel as in the good old times”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

In the Cresta Palace you do not just stay - you reside. Okay, it's a first class hotel - but it's the vintage kind of luxury and style that makes it so special - it makes you feel as living in the belle epoque yourself. Just adding a modern infrastructure, a comfortable SPA area including a nice pool and a great cuisine.

Beside that, the Cresta Palace is perfectly situated for skiing or cross-county skiing - you can just leave your car sitting under its cap of snow from last night and walk along to the ski lift or ski run - and be sure: there's a hell of a lot of ski tracks and ski runs!

The swiss valley of engadin offers an incredible wide variety of opportunities to spend your day at all weather condition - that's the reason why this is also one of the most costly areas in that country. So here is the only negativ point about this hotel: IT'S EXPENSIVE. And after paying a certain amount one would expect that WiFi could be included - no: it's charged additionaly

And may be, if you're sensitive: Some rooms may have suboptimal windows - that makes heaters working hard and air very dry in winter which may disturb your deep sleep a little...

“Nice hotel, great spa, very disappointing food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2009

We stayed for 3 nights at this hotel and had a package deal with meals included. While we were generally happy with the service and the facilities, we were sorely disappointed by the dinner. The food was a poor quality, mass catering affair, albeit a 5 course menu and to top this off, the serving staff very noisily lay the tables for breakfast when guests were still finishing dinner. In addition our bill was ready for us and served to us without requesting it. One couldn't help but feel that they were trying to get rid of us! Fortunately the spa was good - we had a great massage and a body wrap but even this didn't make up for the poor meals. If you appreciate good food, don't eat here!

“Nice, but not worth the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 March 2009

The hotel is actually noted as being a 4-star hotel, here on tripadvisor it says 3-star, I would say that is more accurate. The furnishings and the decor in the hotel lobby are OK, a bit old fashioned. The check-in staff were very friendly, the concierge was a bit rude on one occasion.
We had a medium double room. There was one room for the bed, one sitting room, and a bathroom. Everything was very clean. The decor also of our room was very no-frills and the 'art' a bit tacky. I guess the higher end rooms perhaps have better decor and furnishings, but I would expect that at a 4-star hotel all the room classes should have similar decor and furnishings, just with additional amenities or increase in size for more expensive rooms. Also the bed was terrible. The mattress was very hard and the pillows were so flat and there were no other options for other pillow types on the bed, as in some other 4-star hotels. Because of this, I had a very hard time sleeping because the bed was so uncomfortable.
We ate in the main restaurant. I really thought the quality of the food did not match the price. Usually the vegetables and fish were overcooked, while the meats were completely undercooked and the dishes lacked flavor. The service was great and Swiss food can be expensive, but one can find much better quality for the price tag of 85CHF per person.
I did enjoy the small swimming pool and steam bath. It was usually pretty empty. It was nothing fancy, but still a nice retreat in the hotel.
As for business services, one can buy 30 min internet access cards for 5CHF. There is a very small computer room, which costs 5CHF to use for 15 min or 5CHF to print something. I find it quite odd that they would charge for people to use this computer, afterall the room prices are not cheap.
And one note for the location, Celerina is very small. We could not find many options for lunch that did not involve going to an overpriced hotel restaurant or overpriced restaurant by the ski lifts.

“Superb hotel”

This is a very special hotel. It beats me why it was given 3 stars. It is more luxurious than most 5 star hotels that I have stayed and with lots of character. The hotel manages something quite rare: to be very luxurious, very friendly and leaving you with a feeling that you are at home. And chances are that most mortal's homes are not like that : )

You come back from the slopes to a beautiful and relaxing spa area. The food is quite something: we found out that the chef used to work at one of the most expensive restaurants in Munich - one of the academic reseachers in our party said that he always wanted to go to this restaurant but never could.... The display of the chef's masterpieces on Thursdays is breathtaking.

Everything in the place spells quality and atttention to detail.

You can be sure that this is a great place to go.
