“Great alpine ski hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2010

We spent 4 days at Hotel Allegra Isla in Arosa - we had a long ski weekend for 4 days with partner and another couple - Arosa itself is a lovely mountain village, 1800m above sea level. The hotel is located a 10 minute walk from the centre, the good thng is that the bus stop is 100m away from the hotel.

We received room 102, a corner room on the ground floor. The hotel has a warm atmosphere, it has a bit old school feeling with old poster advertisments from various periods (30s, 80s).

The room is quite pleasant, the view from our room was simply great on the mountains.
The equipment is a bit old scool as well, check out the phone and radio, quite funny pieces.

The bathroom has a nice big bath, which is great and has nice very hot water. The bathroom itself is also a bit old in design, but I dint mind at all, it was always clean and fully functional.

The only thing I missed was a fridge but we used the outside ledge of the window to cool the beers. :)

The best part of the stay is the food, the breakfast is continental, and has a nice selection of cheese, ham, marmelades, muesli.
Definitely go for half board - they serve everyday a very delicious 4 course dinner, very tasty and full with local specialties. It is served as of 6:30 until 8 every evening, a really nice close of a tiring ski day.
The restaurant has hufe glass windows on 3 walls and offers great views on mountains if the weather is clear.
The waitresses abd staff were really nice and friendly, the owner lady also goes around every evening and chats with the guest every evening, a really nice lady.

The hotel also has a nice common room with comfortable armchairs, we watched some movies on out laptop here, was great.

Net-net I would recommend this hotel and Arosa for a good ski vacation and I am quite sure it i also great for a summer hike.

“Great Views, quiet location.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2009

We stayed at the Allegra Isla for our first holiday in Switzerland. We found the contact with Lisbeth & Julia to be easy as we have no German. After some considerable confusion over the terms of the internet booking we would recommend that you make sure exactly what you are paying for and that the hotel accepts your booking made via the web.
The hotel expects payment in cash and I had to ask to pay by Visa.
I have to say that the whole booking process caused us some stress as the prepayment wasn't required and I had to ask several times for clarification.
We were late arriving (due to delays at Terminal 5) and we were gratefull that we were provided with food with no fuss.
Our room was clean, warm & tidy. The balcony had a splendid view. The breakfast was continental style which featured the best musli I have ever tasted. Dinner was single choice menu with a 15CHF surcharge for the childrens menu (a bit steep for chicken nuggets and chips)
Nevertheless, the food was nice enough, although we felt relegated to the side dining room and a bit out of it.
The waitresses are friendly and enjoyed a laugh with us.
The owner, Lisbeth, visited us every meal time and generously offered as much food as we could eat. 'Just ask' she'd say. We did once and we were impressed !
The free ski bus stopped nearby and you can buy the lift passes at the hotel if required.
There is a free heated ski equipment storage room.
All in all we loved Arosa and will return one day.
To sum up, an comfortable, friendly adults hotel with insufficent facilities for the younger guest.

“You'll get a welcome in the hillside......”

I stayed at the Allegra Isla from 22 to 26 Feb 2007, with my husband and two children (boys aged 9 and 7). We had booked a family room, south-facing, with balcony; we were very pleased with the accommodation as the room was comfortable and clean, and was properly prepared for us on the afternoon of our arrival. Often hotels do not arrange family rooms according to how they have been booked; numerous times we have arrived at a hotel and have to pester reception for extra beds, towels, etc.

We were made to feel extremely welcome at this hotel; we speak very limited German, but the staff (particularly Katrin on reception) went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. Katrin's English was excellent and she was most thorough in her directions and descriptions, as we needed to be pointed in the right direction for ski hire, ski school, bus transport around the resort, etc etc.

The food provided (we chose half-board) was exceptional - fresh, flavoursome - and the children's meals were way above average; they were served filled pasta, or vol-au-vent, for example; essentially the meals were imaginative and used local produce.

We liked this hotel very much indeed; it is a quiet, family establishment with charming staff and excellent food, and I recommend it highly to anyone wanting peaceful accommodation which is near to the ski bus stop (about 150m away, a free service which runs regularly throughout the resort) and which provides generous, wholesome meals.
