“Perfect location in Wengen.”

Right beside the station and within 5 minutes walk of the main gondola. The hotel has a ski room and a ski hire shop within the building so everything was close to hand. The service was highly attentive and very friendly and the wellness area was clean and well equipped. The breakfast room was well stocked with plenty of options and the bar looked cosy for a quiet relaxing drink. My only negative comment was about the decor and the condition of the room. The layout was perfect for our needs but the room felt dated and in need of a lift. Surprisingly this hotel took short bookings (which is hard to find in a ski resort) and everything was very good so we stayed an extra night which was also no problem. Free WIFI was available.

Room Tip: If staying with children then ask for the family rooms. Large double room with twin bed room as one...

“Fantastic views, spotless rooms, great sauna area, central location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2011 via mobile

We stayed here for 2 nights and checked out yesterday. We were very happy with our choice- it was easy to find, close to the train and cable car.

The location is across from the station- please see the photo. You would have to be blind or very unobservant to miss it when you get off the train. During the day, there is a little street noise, but by 6 pm thing quiet down.

The staff were friendly at reception as were housekeeping staff and went out of their way to help.

There is an elevator and I can't recall many stairs except in the wellness centre, but these stairs can be avoided if required.

Our room was immaculately clean and had a very small bar fridge. We chose a jungfrau view room and were not disappointed! We could see the alps from our bed and great views from the balcony.

The bathroom was very clean and had a shower over the tub. The hotel also provided bathrobes and slippers in the room for use in the wellness centre. There were also toiletries and a sewing kit (which we were needing...)

The wellness centre was great! There was an outdoor and indoor jacuzzi and an area where you could sit and relax or read a book. These areas had direct views of jungfrau and was great for people watching, being across the road from the station. There were also 3 saunas- Finnish, herbal (we couldn't smell it...) and steam which had a menthol fragrance. There was also a shower experience nook which had a few different functions on it (fine mist, waterfall etc). The area was very clean and relaxing and helped our jetlag no end. The only thing to note (which didn't bother us, but may others who aren't used to the spa culture here) is that the sauna area is a naked area.

Breakfast was excellent, many hot and cold choices, several juices. I overate both days because there was too much choice for me! All European choices- cold cuts, cheeses, eggs, sausage etc as well as cereal, toast and pastry

The only real negative was that there was no wifi in the hotel. There was however a computer at devotion with free access to the Internet. A couple of things that would have been nice to have is a cork screw and access to ice machine so reception didn't have to deliver it or we pick these up- very minor issues.

“Great Hotel & Staff in a WOW Location”

A great hotel with staff always willing to please and superb food. It's very difficult to fault it. As for the location, it's a WOW as you look out from your balcony up at the Jungfrau. Being next to the mountain railway station makes getting about so easy.

“Friendly with a good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2011

My Wife and I stayed here in January 2011 for a skiing holiday.
The hotel has a brilliant location opposite the train station and is very close to the cable car station that goes to the Mannlichen ski area; you can walk this in ski boots in approximately 3-5 minutes. The hotel is in the centre of Wengen which makes it ideal to explore the town.

Our room was south facing leading onto a large roof terrace, some people might not like a shared balcony, but we had no problems as the adjacent rooms were empty. The room was spacious, bright and the bathroom was very good as it provided two wash basins. In the room there was a seating area with a small table, this was very useful when getting ready and generally sprawling around.

The food at the hotel was very good and varied; we ate in the first floor restaurant which is large and very bright. There was plenty of choice for breakfast as well as the evening meals: which is usually a five course affair. There is also a restaurant on the ground floor which we did not use due to pre-booked meal arrangements.

The hotel has a wellness centre which is very good. There are two Jacuzzis; one inside the other outside: it is quite strange sitting in a Jacuzzi with snow falling on you. The sauna area is a nude zone, which might put some people off, however, there is a nice relaxation area with loungers that is very good when recovering from a days skiing. The only down side to the wellness area is that they only provide bottled water to drink, it would be nice if they provided a selection of fruit juices.

If you are intending to visit Wengen during the week of the Lauberhorn downhill race this hotel is perfect, its location means you are in the heart of the action, but this does not mean you will be kept awake all night by the noise as the hotel was remarkably quiet. The only down side is that the ski / boot room will probably be commandeered by one of the visiting ski teams. On our visit the Austrian Team moved in, this meant we had to use a store room near the kitchen as a supplementary ski room; however, this was not a major problem.

Overall the hotel is more functional than cosy but this does not mean unfriendly; we found the staff very friendly and courteous. The hotel is very clean and the brochure description is accurate. My wife and I would have no problem staying there again.

“Amazing Spa area, friendly staff, great food, quiet little town.”

The hotel is perfectly located for tired ski legs in need of a hot tub. If you slope off the train, bus or gondola the Silberhorn is within staggering distance. I hate walking in those clompy boots so the location is important.
The reception is tired looking as are some of the seating areas, however the bar is cosy if the fire is lit and the restaurant is freshly painted with a new conservatory area on the back. The food was just fantastic with a healthy choice that was made at breakfast and served to you at any time you chose in the evening.
The food areas were well laid out and no elbowing was to be had on buffet night.
The rooms were a little compact but very little time is spent in them so who cares really? I don't. The bathroom had been refurbed to a high standard but the energy saving light had to be reminded that I WAS STILL IN THE SHOWER! Soap in your eyes is bad enough but to cope in the dark as well was irritating by day 4.
I would definately use this hotel again but may not take the kids until they have grown up a bit more. Nothing for kids to do except make noises in the restaurant to the annoyance of others.
