“Without a doubt, best in Murren. But it's closed now!”

I have been staying here annually since 1999. It was my favorite place in all of Switzerland to stay. The views are amazing. The location in Murren is ideal. The service, staff, food, and rooms were all fantastic. Especially the room balconies.

You may have noticed, I said it WAS my favorite place. It has been closed down for the last year or so. When I was in Murren in October 2010, I asked some locals why it was closed. They told me that a Russian investor had entered into a purchase agreement to buy the hotel, then some problems erupted, and the deal may have fallen through. In the mean time, the hotel had to close its doors.

I can only hope that this hotel resumes service sooner than later. The longer it sits vacant, the more likely it is to fall prey to decay. Its a beautiful old structure, and it has been maintained so well over the years. One good thing I can say is that when I was there last year, even though it was closed, I saw the same maintenance man that I've seen there since 1999 walking the property. So hopefully he is actively keeping it up during this closure period.

Look forward to (hopefully) returning here in the future.

“Amazing Hotel. Excellent Food.”

This is one of our favorite hotels and we are already trying to figure out how to get back sooner.

The rooms were very nice with balconies. The attached sports complex was great (indoor pool , snow rentals, tourist info).

We loved the breakfast! It was definitely the best deal that we found while in Switzerland considering how quality all the food was. When we arrived in Switzerland, we soon found how expensive this country is!

I guess if I had to think of something wrong with it, the laundry facility was broken when I went, but I'm just happy they had one.

Overall we thought this was an excellent hotel and we'd definitely come again.

An excellent place and hotel for stay.
As travel is long to reach the hotel, carry less luggage.
Coffee maker in the room is handy. Carry sache for tea/coffee.
Half board of the hotel is recommended.
Carry your glares, good pair of shoes and woollens for winter time.
Very courteous and helpful hotel staff. Full marks to them.
A good RCI destination

“Great Views, Excellent Location”

The Alpin Palace was an excellent choice for our week-long Swiss vacation. The facilities were excellent and well maintained. The views were spectacular and the location was superb for taking various day trips to the the Alps. One day when the whether was not conducive for viewing the surrounding mountains we took a day trip (via the handy rail system) to Montreux to visit the Chillon Castle. Even though there is no auto travel to Murren (it is accessible only by cable car and rail) the town is ideally located for many sightseeing and outdoor activities. The hotel has a very nice restaurant and the staff is very professional and helpful. I recommend the Alpin Palace highly.

  • Liked — Excellent facilities and service/great location
  • Disliked — The optional half-board restaurant package. The food was great but our options were limited and precluded us from visiting several other excellent restaurants in the area.

“Peace and perfect views”

We came to Murren following three days at Fasnacht in Basle looking for a peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, our rooms spacious, well equipped and comfortable. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room were much appreciated (you'll need to take some sachets of tea/coffee with you). The views were beautiful as they are at any point in Murren. Particularly worthy of comment were the restaurant staff for whom nothing seemed too much trouble.
