We stayed here in 2010 dec and found it quite average. The owners are really nice people but the hotel looked quite old. The train station is across the road so its easy to catch a train for jungfraoch. A few hotels close by but apart from that its an average hotel.

We have stayed her since 2010 and last year 2011 we came in may and In september and have enjoyed and loved the location and very clean and the food good.
We have booked again for 2012 it is convenient for my self as i can not walk long distences and my wife loves the service and the staff are very helpfull it is esyer if you want to get out to the berness oberland and jungfraujoch, schilthorn, murren, brienz, lauterbrunnen,iseltwald,schynige platte,to name but a few the rooms in this hotel may be a little tired but over hall good value.
If you want a palace then switzerland is not for you but it is a good place to stay and the swiss are very plesant people

The hotel is very convenient for the station being literally next to the Interlaken Ost station. However, this means that there is a lot of train noise. We had two rooms on the top floor facing the station. The weather was hot and the windows needed to be open so the train noise was unavoidable. We found that the 'normal' train noise was not too bad but what caused us more disturbance was the squealing of the wheels as trains left the station and went round a bend to go over the river bridge.
The entrance to the hotel was nicely decorated and very pleasant. The receptionist was very helpful.
The room itself was the most outdated we had seen. Whilst it was clean and tidy, the decoration belonged in the seventies. The bathroom was clearly added later and was very dark with avocado coloured decoration. Every now and then the wardrobe would start vibrating for no obvious reason - very odd!! The mini bar was a few small bottles in a basket and the radio was very seventies. In both of our rooms the tv was very oddly placed - in my room it was on the bedside table with a very short cable so that it could not be moved to a better position - you could not watch it unless you used the bed the wrong way round. In my sister's room the tv was on top of a high wardrobe - they could not reach the buttons to operate it!!
Breakfast was in the restaurant downstairs which has views over the river, a lovely room. It was of a good standard and the staff were very helpful. We also used the restaurant for an evening meal. This was very good value for Switzerland but was a little rushed. Although it catered for a generally older clientel in style it was very tasty. There was also a pleasant outdoor area next to the river where we had some drinks.
The hotel is also next to the boarding point for the boats on the Brienzersee.

If you want marble and gold do not consider this place, but if you would like an authentic family run property in a very convenient location at a reasonable price this is the place for you.
With the exception of one rather surly waiter, the staff are excellent, very attentive, knowledgeable, and extremely willing to help in any way possible.
Add to that, the owner is the manager, and very hands on, so things tend to run like a Swiss clock.
Some of the features and fittings are a little dated and could do with a review, but they add to the ambience and the experience.
Location is excellent, between the railway station and the beautiful river, and tucked under a very steep hill.Nearby tourist destinations such as Jungfrau and Pilaetus are easily reached from the Interlaken Ost station.Boat cruises also leave from just outside the hotel.
Train noise was not a problem to us,but some sensitive souls may be inclined to complain.
Would stay again but for longer so as to enjoy nwhat is to offer in the near vicinity.
