“Overall, very nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2011

Overall this was a nice hotel, the staff were very friendly and they even picked you up from the station, rather than you having to drag your cases up the steep hill.

What I didnt like is in 5 days we were there for, they never changed the towels. When I put the radiator on, they turned it off. The lights above the bed were really sharp so when you used the on/off switch, you often scratched yourself on the corner of the sharp square metal light fitting. The bed was similar - it was made from a wooden frame with sharp corners so if you bumped into it, it hurt. It was a nice King size though. The shower and sink were right opposite your bed. If you are a bit shy there is no hiding when getting out of the shower. Also the shower was high up, so if you have bad knees like me, its not so good to step out of. Their hairdryer ate my hair - it sucked my hair into the hairdryer - there was no grill on the back like we ours are designed in the UK.

Everything you needed was there, apart from a kettle in the room. The room was modern.

Breakfast - there were yoghurts, bread, croissants, cereal, sliced meats, cheese, fruit, tea, coffee and hot chocolate - so all perfectly fine. You could have a boiled egg if you paid for it.

Yes there is quite a walk up to the hotel, up a steep hill, but its all very scenic so we didnt mind. In the winter you can get a free ski bus down to the station, but we preferred to walk as the views were so nice and we didnt want to miss out.

Beware - the food in Grindelwald is very very expensive compared to the UK or Spain for example. Its over double our prices.

The hotel was very good for the money. If you just want a nice room with lovely views and breakfast, then go for it.

“Immaculately clean, friendly and helpful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2010

My room was small but very comfortable and immaculately clean. I like a firm bed and this bed was just that--I think it was a foam mattress, really comfortable. Breakfast was my favorite with several fresh breads and cheeses all labelled so I could remember my favorites when I went to the deli. Also had cereal for my American breakfast appetite. The owners were very helpful in giving advice on the area and I ran into a couple of employees on the trail one day--they were just as friendly on their day off as they were at the hotel. I loved the quiet location, a little up the hill from the main town, but you should be aware of the extra hike from town. All in all a great value.

“Good option for Grindelwald”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2010

My wife and I stayed here for two nights in August 2010. We enjoyed our stay and the hotel offered everything that we expected. We stayed in one of the "cheap rooms" which is a basic room. The room was clean and comfortable. We had read some reviews that said that the rooms were not sound proof but we did not really have any issues with this. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. Breakfast was delicious. Our only complaint was that you had to pay 2 CHF for a hard boiled egg. As vegetarians this was a bit annoying since there was a selection of meat in the breakfast buffet.

“Good value for a great view in Grindelwald”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2010

We stayed at the Lauberhorn in August 2009 on a one-night stopover in Grindelwald. The room was comfortable enough with the big highlight being the view of the Eiger north face from our balcony. Very nice to wake up and see a huge mountain face outside your window.

Hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the centre of town, but overall, well located.

“Great hotel with wonderful staff who point you to the gems of Grindelwald!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2010

We travelled from Sweden to Grindelwald in June 2010 to stay there for 4 nights. We were a group of 8 people who never had hiked professionally before. Thanks to Connie and Benny who own the hotel, we really got the best pieces of advice where to go and not. They knew everything about the trails, the weather and clothing. The rooms were clean, the view was magnificent and it was walkingdistance (5-10 minutes) the the village where we had dinner every night. I can really recommend this place!
