I enjoyed our brief stay in the fiescherblick hotel, it was clean, the beds were comfy and most importantly during winter - warm. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was great (typical swiss, bread cheese etc etc). The only thing for us was it was quite a long walk from the station, but if your normal you catch the bus!! hahaha!
Our room was quite large with a balcony and a beautiful outlook over the little chapel and it poured with snow the entire time!

This was one of the more affordable hotels in Grindelwald, so we were pleasantly surprised!
It is a bit older and kind of darkish in the hallways - but room was very cozy, very clean and lovely views from the balcony! Breakfast was very good, lots of choice. yes, the rooms have not been updates since the 70's, but everything has been kept in pristine condition. Just pretend it's retro! Very comfy and quite (though we visited in September). Close to most tings in the town, walking distance.
Our balcony was right across from the church - we didn't hear it at all at night with the window closed, but it was lovely to hear during the day.
We have stayed here twice and it is a very well run hotel with excellent service. It is clean and comfortable with attentive staff. Children were no issue and that really made the stay special. I travel extensively and this hotel is truly world-class and deserves great praise.

This place is great for many reasons. The owner/staff were universally friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The breakfast is classic Swiss, with delicious Birchemuesli and fresh warm bread. The location can't be beaten, especially for skiers as the First lift is moments away and the skibus stops outside for everywhere else. The rooms are straight from the 70s, but rather than dated or faded, they are in perfect condition in a retro style. This place is different from your standard chalet or resort hotel, but in a very pleasing way. I'm definitely going back.

We booked a friend into this hotel as we had seen its attractive chalet style exterior and good TripAdvisor rating on the internet. We stayed at the Grand Hotel Regina (see May 2008 review).
When we arrived with our friend the manager/owner got up from reading his newspaper and checked our friend in. The room could be described as 'basic mean Swiss'. Clean but basic and charmless, unlike the attractive exterior.
Our friend advised us that the breakfast as also 'mean Swiss basic'
Cheap (110CHF per night) but little else to recommend it. A #5 rating in Grindelwald seems perverse to say the least
