We stayed at the old building on the second flor for 7 days. The way from the lift to our room was pasing by the laundery washing room . The room was very plain with dirty windows and dirty carpet. Our bed linens where changed after 4 nights and also only after our request. We had no hot water for washing during two evenings and early nights. When we where comlaining, we where told by the manager to wait one ot two houres, as the Japanis groups that have arrived use much hot water for bathing. The lobby is small and un comfortable. On our complains we where unswered in an un polite unswers by the hotel manager. On the other side the staff was very nice and polite and the breakfast was wonderful. This hotel is not a 3 stars hotel. Even one star is to much for him.
Our two rooms at the Eigerblick were clean and comfortable, albeit very 'plain'. Staff was more than happy to help with every/any need. The breakfasts were very good, as well. They included fresh cheeses, meats, yogurt, granola, etc. We walked to Grindelwald which was a little 'jaunt' down the hill, but because the weather was beautiful, we didn't mind a bit. The bus stop situation was a little confusing, but the staff did their best to give us all the details. Views from the restaurant were spectacular; one of our rooms also had good views. But even a room with a 'street view' room would be fine...just step outside and take it all in! Gorgeous, breathtaking area. On a side note: worth a trip up to "First" on a tram...and then take the zip-line down! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWV7c0NfL3A
When planning my next winter vacation- I remembered our very good experiance in a well managed hotel. A very friendly and helpfull staff.
The Room was large, The Loby- cosy with Wi-Fi.
The breakfasts excellent ( made us relluctant to leav for skiing..)Dinners-good in a nice atmosfere.
Overall- very recommended !
