This small hotel is in one word GREAT, it has lots to do for kids, adults, couples and couples to be. We could do river rafting, mountain climbing and a lot of outdoor adventures, and what's best: it's included in the hotel's price. The hotel is about 4 minutes to Gstaad "downtown" by car and 15 to walk. The hotel's staff is extremely friendly with everybody even under stress. Food was great, the breakfast was very nice and dinner.......hmhmhmh.
The swimmingpool has a plus, half of it is outdoor and half indoor. Great!!
Because all of this we'll be back now in October.

Went there for a quick 3d/2night getaway in September 2009 with my hubby. We were there on a special 2-for-1 discount offer, so technically only paid half. Here's stuff I noticed:

- Extremely professional, courteous, customer-service oriented staff; from front-desk to wait staff in the restaurant. The best I've experienced in a LONG time.
- While not in Gstaad itself, the hotel is still centrally enough located. Really, a quick 3-min drive from Gstaad is basically like being in Gstaad.
- The hotel and the rooms are clean, well equipped, they take care of their new decor.
- Scrumptuous, generous breakfast buffet.
- If you're on the ground floor you'll have an outside patio and direct access to the back yard.
- The free internet on the iMacs in the room is definitely handy.

What I would not do again, however, was dine there: the dinner was nice enough, but at 90 CHF for two persons (including a bit of wine) definitely too expensive.

All in all, would definitely go back. Comfy beds, too.

The best. I arrived and was greeted warmly and offered a glass of sparkling wine, shown my room, and my place for dinner. The menu is fresh, seasonal, delicious and served in a cozy, casually elegant dining room with soft candle-light everywhere, and friendly, helpful, professional service. There is an indoor/outdoor pool set at a heated 29C/84.2 F temperature. There is a MAC desktop in every room (if you love MACS, you know how special this is), and if you bring your own, wireless everywhere - great. This hotel is a beautiful 10 minute walk from the very center of the village of Gstaad, and the walk is wonderful, with goats with bells on their collars to the side of the road, playing, and incredible mountain-scapes to gaze at, plus the advantage of using up a few calories before (or after), another great meal. This hotel has many different styled rooms. If, for some reason, you don't like the one you're given, please just tell the helpful, friendly staff, who will gladly, and quickly, show you any other rooms available. You can email in your preferences and tastes before-hand, as well. They have brand new, rooms facing the lovely pool, extended rooms with charming stairs to kids' quarters, and even rooms to house more than one family or a group of friends. My first room faced the South, with a balcony and a spectacular view of the mountains - amazing. My second, and favorite, had a low ceiling with charming, old beams, skylights, and faced the front of the hotel- a quiet, pretty street with kitties and the place across the street with flowers on all the balconies.
I always say, if you have a problem, bring it to the attention of the convivial staff, who will do all they can to make your stay a little slice of Heaven. The lounge too, is wonderful, with a full bar, tea times in the afternoon, and locals coming in for coffee in the morning, before heading out to any of the numerous sports and activities in Gstaad. There were older couples there, young couples, families with adorable children - all having a wonderful time - it is perfect for all.
What can I say? I would live there if I could!

Alpine Lodge name is a bit misleading for this concrete building. It's a fairly old place which has had a minor face lift. Not up to todays standards.

This place needs a total renovation for it's rooms. Restaurant and gym/pool area are OK. Pool was cold and quite small.

Rooms are small and the bathrooms even smaller. No shelf for toilet bag eg.

Bed and desk/chair are very basic, hostel type design. Every room has an old Mac.

The room was sold including dinner (which was OK), but the reception claimed that the room rate did not include that. The way we were told was very unflexible and rude, and it made no difference that I had the printout in my hand that mentioned the dinner. Used the Mac in room to e-mail to HRS (booking website), which then sorted out the dinner problem.

Located a few kms outside Gstaad, nothing to see or do nearby. I definitely would not go again.
