“Fabulous Christmas break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2010

We had booked through the hotel direct for a room for three, which was to have a fold-up bed, but on arrival we were allocated a double and a single next door to each other - this was perfect and much better than we had expected. The rooms themselves were lovely - spotlessly clean and with plenty of space. Both rooms had balconies with a wonderful view, too. The beds were very comfortable - as would be expected in Switzerland. The furniture in the rooms was matching and the furnishings and décor were of a very high standard.
We had booked the Half-Board option and the dinners were of excellent quality. The restaurant is quite small but very cosy and ambient. One of the main courses during our stay was Fondue, which was a really nice touch to have on a set menu. There is an extensive wine list with many excellent Swiss wines to try. The breakfast buffet has plenty of choice and is constantly replenished. The selection of cheeses and breads is wonderful!
There is a nice bar which always seemed to be busy with locals and residents alike and the prices for beer were reasonable.
Although the hotel is located out of the centre of the village, it makes for a nice walk into Gstaad and offers a quieter setting. It is right next to the ski school and is near several lifts.
This hotel is a fantastic choice and was the perfect venue for our family break over the Christmas period.

“Cute, cozy little place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2010

Hotel standards in Switzerland are high in general. This one is no exception.
We went for a week ski holiday and this hotel offered a very good package deal with ski pass. It is at the piste so literally you can walk 20 steps to the ski lift after breakfast.

Clean, nice chalet, good restaurant, friendly helpful staff. Bed was comfy.
Would go back there for sure.

“The Alphorn is a gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 June 2010

Great family-owned hotel in gorgeous Gstaad. I stayed in both summer and in the fall, during the off-season for skiing. Great area for hiking, walking, or day trips to wonderful places like Montreux and Gruyeres.
Rooms are lovely in a Swiss style with natural pine decor, beautiful views of the mountains, great breakfast, nice restaurant, wonderful staff. Good wi-fi access, fridges in rooms, nice sized baths. Walkable distance to the promenade and rail station, but you may need to take a cab on a rainy day. Still, one of my favorite places in the world.
Highly recommended.

“Small family friendly hotel that is ski in/ski out with breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 May 2006

This is a very small hotel on the ski slope of Wispiel. This is a family friendly ski slope and is comparable to American green, blue and black. My husband is an expert skier and enjoys going to some of the other hills in the area like Wassengrat. I learned to ski as an adult and enjoy American green and blue trails. The hotel is of the typical swiss chalet look. Also you will smell cheeses downstairs. There is a breakfast available with your room. It is bread, toast, fresh juices, meats, cheeses, fruit, coffee, tea, cereal and milk. It was perfect for us. Also there is a bar and resturant in the building. We found the hot drinks at the bar to be great. We picked this hotel because I learned to ski on this slope and wanted a reasonable ski in/out place that had a hot tub. The hot tub here is a two person tub and it was like $8 for a use. You get tokens at the front desk. We never saw a tub that filled up for a use. It was very clean in the spa area. We found it hard to get a hotel in europe that has a hot tub available. In Geneva our hotel wanted $80 for use of the hot tub. The sauna is free. There is a tanning bed available for $5 for 15 minutes. The hotel is very small but does have an elevator. Also there are some rooms with balconies that face the ski slope. The beds were firm but they feather duvets were nice. The rooms have been renovated and our bathroom was very new. I liked the storage room for skis and boots on the main level. Also this hotel has a small ski shop onsite.
