In my experience of this hotel, maybe because i booked with Hotel.com, I had an horrible room furbished in 1975, only the bathroom was alright except the hair who wasn't mine...
Dusty, missing light bulb... the good points are the Nespresso machine in the bedroom, the comfy bed and the wi-fi. Of course the staff was absolutely great...

What a beautiful city to visit, the library, the top of the hill, the cathedral.
And with the elegant and simple hotel Walhalla, you'll have no worries.

I love free internet (no nickel and diming), I love having a coffee machine in my room - and this is the REAL true espresso coffee pod machines. Breakfast was great, and with such easy access to the train station.
Love the cute yellow rubber duckie in the bathroom, too.

(only thing I question was a little loud music from somewhere late at night, and the fluourescent lights in the bathroom took 2-3 minutes to warm up/turn on)

Enjoyed a 2 week stay at Walhalla back in Oct/Nov 08. Hotel clean and tidy. Rooms comfy enough with tea/coffee machine. Excellent buffet breakfast, didnt try evening meals in restaurant because the bar also served good food and good swiss beer also! Much better than the rubbish served in the UK. Bar area is quite big, gets a lot of people coming in for a drink after work as the hotel is right opposite the local town hall and the main train station in St.Gallen. Lots of posh shops etc. around the corner and good eating places nearby. Even found an English pub down the road serving Tetleys Bitter. Quite a few bars serve English beer and the best thing is it tastes better than at home! Overall, the hotel is an excellent base for visiting St. Gallen. Got some snow on my visit and guess what, things didnt grind to a halt like in the UK. I also stayed in Zurich, Lucern, Interlaken on my trip and I would sum up Switzerland in the following way - everything on time, organised people, clean citys/towns, excellent transport, trains especially. The Walhalla sits directly across from St Gallen's main train station, and is a block or two away from the main shopping area of beautiful St Gallen.

Much of the hotel has been recently refurbished, including public areas and restaurant. Check in was pleasant and simple - the lobby has free internet for those in need of connection.

My room was rear-facing and peaceful, spotlessly clean, with modern decor and wood flooring. The bathroom was small with no tub, but a good size shower and toiletries.

Remote TV with plenty of channels, Coffee maker, minibar, magazines, writing desk, double glazing and aircon.

Breakfast was served in the ground floor restaurant and was vast with all the bases covered and very appetising too.

I found the City to be very clean and pleasant, the Appenzellbahn train ride to Wasserauen superb (don't miss the cable car to Ebenalp from here), and the City's proximity to Romanshorn & Lake Constance an added bonus.

Excellent in every respect.
