This hotel for Swiss prices is at the cheap end of the scale but for location staff and rooms was excellent.Room was huge and breakfast buffet was good also free tea and coffee machine during your stay.
If you can get a good deal well worth it.

We chose this hotel because it seemed the cheapest..everything in switzerland is highly overpriced..and this looked the best bet. We were quite worried having read the negative reviews.

But the hotel is quite decent. It was clean.. Close to attractions and certainly not worthy of the horrible reviews its been getting!
We had to sleep with our windows open so that the room doesnt become stuffy.that was fine..infact a welcome break from all the air conditioning we are use to! The temperature were quite high in August but still we slept well.
The breakfast was basic but good. Better than what we got in atleast two other hotels we stayed in during this france-swiss trip.

The staff was a bit put off.they are not rude..but not friendly either. Most hotels in Europe seem family run and we got use to happy people at the reception. That was not the case
here.

Overall it was a decent experience for 200francs per night. Switzerland makes you go crazy about your budgets anyway!

Our trip to Switzerland was fairly last minute so a lot of the hotels in Luzern were booked. Was concerned about this hotel based on mixed reviews but decided to take a chance and stay for 2 nights. It certainly wasn't bad but wasn't our favorite hotel. Booked it through Orbitz as they were running a special on 2+ nights.

It was fairly warm when we went and there wasn't a breeze at night (our room faced the inner courtyard area on the 4th floor) so it got fairly stuffy at night even w/the fan running.

The breakfast selection was good but it truly seemed like a first come first serve. We got to breakfast around 8:45 one morning (I think it ran until 10:30 or 11) and a majority of the items were all out and we didn't see anybody replenishing meats, cheese, breads, etc. Even the sugar was empty by the coffee machine. We ate what we saw thinking they would refill but gave up after 30 mins or so. The next day we made it down in time so everything was still available. I'm not sure if somebody just didn't replenish the first day or if we made it down early enough the second! Coffee machine offers cappucinos, espresso, etc.

The girls at the reception area were not rude but not overly friendly. They didn't offer any suggestions on the city-really just handed us the key. I had to ask what the brochure was that was sitting on the desk and they said it included a city map and a discount card-all of the other hotels gave us those items as part of check in and some sort of explanation. One of the girls was nice but the other seemed more hurried with her responses.

They also provide a large key to your room but when you leave, they ask that you keep the large key on this public board by the reception desk and take the small key with you since they close at 11pm...We didn't have any problems thank goodness but found it a bit odd to have your room key on display for anybody to take and if the small key was missing, then it was an indication that you weren't in your room. Another hotel required that we leave the key but it was very small and they always watched who came/went so we didn't feel uneasy there.

Location was in Old Town-close to the lion monument. It's not overlooking the lake area but maybe a 5-10 min walk depending where you are looking to go on the lake. Luzern is very easy to navigate on foot so we never utilized the buses. Even the walk across the bridge to train station may have been 10 mins but not long at all and you certainly don't pay the high prices.

Room was okay but what you would expect for a 3* hotel and it's as advertised on their website. Very easy to find as well-there is a map on the website and it's literally right next to Starbucks so you can't miss it. The building itself is odd-almost like an office building and not a hotel?

If you are looking for a basic, affordable hotel then this one is fine. If we visit Luzern again, I would most likely stay elsewhere as this hotel was not very inviting or warm.

My wife and I (and another couple) booked two double rooms at Hotel Ambassador in Lucern. Our reservations were made three months in advance and credit card details were taken as a guarantee. When we arrived at Hotel Ambassador, in the evening after a long journey, we were informed that our reserved rooms had been allocated to other customers and that we had been rebooked at another hotel in the city. It took us 30 minutes to find the hotel to which we had been transferred and on arrival it proved to be inferior but at the same price. To give credit where it is due we discovered, on our arrival home, that Hotel Ambassador had sent us email notification of the changed reservation 48 hours before our date of arrival in Lucern. This notification, however, was of little use whilst we were travelling on holiday.

With regard to the overall quality of the hotel we can provide no advise as we were unable to experience it! However, the hotel does overlook the river which was the reason why we had made the selection in the first place.
