I visited this hotel (2 nights) during a tour of Europe, Traditional Europe, organized by Trafalgar. We travelled as a group and I always shared a room with my boyfriend.

I loved this hotel. It was charming! Our room had a balcony with a stunning view of the alps. The hotel is over a hundred years old, and still has some old world charm : real key to enter the room, nice architecture, chandelier in the room, dinner served in the ballroom, etc. Our bathtub-turned-into-a-shower was a bit difficult to use, but other than that, we enjoyed our experience. Good buffet breakfast and excellent service, especially during meals.

Excellent hotel. Nice Location. Had a very good and relaxed holiday.

Looked so much better in the photos, therefore I guess my expectations were a little higher to start with. We stayed in room 304, the hotel I’m sure was grander in its day but had become quiet old with creaky floors and double like doors that didn’t open or go anywhere so I felt at times a little like Alice in wonderland. It was a twin room with euro style pillows that you had to fold in half as they flattened to nothing, and the bathroom was the worst, was very small with a shower that had concertina doors that snapped shut on your fingers and you had to hold the shower head otherwise water went everywhere except on you! During the ski season not sure what one does with their wet ski gear as didn’t seem to have any drying room facilities? There were positives in that the room did have a great balcony with magnificent views of the surrounding mountains, as we were there in Sept I can only imagine how awesome the mountains would be covered in snow in winter. As fairly quiet at night we could leave the balcony doors open to get some fresh mountain air as the room was quite warm and stuffy. As first timers to Switzerland it was awesome to hear the cow bells as the cows move down from the mountains. I acknowledge it wasn’t peak season for this hotel, therefore they only had skeleton staff, getting a drink at the bar (when it opened) took ages; the guy didn’t even know what kahlua was. Breakfast was fairly standard the bread was nice and fresh, coffee not so great. Also the internet was one of easiest to use and very cheap compared to many other hotels.

The hotel was large but old, the rooms had nice size but are in need of some refurbishment.
