We had a very good stop here. Engleberg is a little way out of Lucerne but worth the detour if only for the pretty countryside. The one thing that was a little frustrating was the one & only elevator - a major pain when there is a coach tour stopping here!

Amazing hotel. I stayed here as part of a Trafalgar tour and loved its old world charm It was clean and comfortable with a decent sized bathroom. Our bedroom opened out onto a balcony and the views were absolutely out of this world. Breakfast was good, but the evening meals were a bit on the bland side. I loved the entrance and the beautiful staircase. There was even a washing machine. It certainly isn't modern though and probably isn't for everyone but I thought it was great. Engelberg itself is a lovely clean alpine village, I wouldn't hesitate to go back there again.

We stayed here for 2 nights in September 2011. The hotel has an old world charm to it. The rooms are a little dated but if anything that adds to the charm, and are clean and comfortable. We had a balcony with a breathtaking view of the mountains! The buffet breakfast was very good. We did eat dinner here and found the food to be on the bland side. Engelberg is a charming place and if I get the chance to return I would not hestitate to stay in this hotel again.

Arrived and thought it looked like a decent hotel but tried to check in....confusion over my reservation, sorted quite quickly tho. Got to my room.... big disappointment. An old tv and desk, an old standard lamp and a "z bed"! Which i proceeded to break, ended up with the mattress on the floor! The room was nothing like the pics on hotel website etc.
