“Long weekend in Geneva”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

Found this hotel with good reviews on TripAdvisor. For the most part the hotel did not disappoint:-

1. Accomodation - room nice and comfortable, well appointed with flat screen t.v. Bathroom also well appointed although shower head sprays water everywhere but with great force.

2. Location - 10 mins walk to the main rail/tram station which is good as the noise levels are much lower but it's not in the smartest of streets. Saying that it's perfectly safe with several local shops, cafes and restaurants close by if you ever need anything.

3. Breakfast - we negotiated a breakfast included price which was good value. Breakfast was good quality with fruit, eggs, fresh rolls and croissants as well as the usual ham and cheese. No complaints at all.

Overall the staff were really helpful and pleasant so I would have no reason not to return should we ever return to Geneva again

“4 star accommodation in a three star hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

My husband and I just spent 11 nights at the Jade. We had a Jr. Suite which was quite large by European standards. We had a 2 seater sofa and 2 side chairs. Also, a long table along one side of the room. There was a platform on which we were able to put up both of our suitcases. A balcony was a pleasant surprise but we did not use it much since it was already quite cold. There was also a kitchenette with a microwave oven, another refrigerator ( aside from the bar), plates and utensils. A Nespresso machine with coffee pods was also in the kitchenette. The only thing that I did to like about the room was having to walk up one flight of stairs after getting off on the 5 th floor. But this would not be a problem if your room is on the 5 th floor downwards.
The location of the hotel is convenient. The train station is just 2 stops away on the tram. To go to the UN, you can take the tram in the opposite direction. Or walk. It took me about 25 minutes to reach the UN on foot.

We also had the buffet breakfast on 2 mornings. It costs 18 Francs. There is no one who checks your room number,so it is honesty system. The spread was rather basic, with cold cuts and fruits, eggs and sausages. It did not have so much variety which is why we only had it for 2 mornings.

There are many eating places nearby on Paquis and on Rue de Lausanne. We recommend L'Entrecote Couronne on Paquis which is a few minutes walking from the hotel. Also for a quick and filling meal, the Gallete at Ali Babs across the street on Rue de Lausanne.

This was the second time that I husband has stayed here. He has stayed in a dozen hotels all over Geneva. This is his favorite hotel. I liked it, too.

“Great location, limited service, good BF (but finishes early so don't stay there till it ends)”

LOCATION: very good

AMBIENCE: that of a family hotel, small lobby, tiny but cute entrance into the hotel. Elegant but simple Asian décor.

ROOM: room itself was very nice, but it smelled strongly. The hotel tried to air it with some minimal success.

SERVICE: actually, there is no service. The hotel seems short on people, on purpose. At the breakfast there was no service personnel so once the food finished (see below), we could not find anyone to talk to. Reception is not continuously occupied, one needs to ring the bell. Then they appear from somewhere.

BREAKFAST: Breakfast not bad for a standard of 3-stars hotel - included muesli, two types of yogurt, eggs and omelet, 2 types of cornflakes, 4 types of juice, few cut fruits - pineapple, watermelon, kiwi etc. warm food included sausages. The problem was that the food started finishing both days of our stay half hour and an hour prior to the formal end of the breakfast. Breakfast on Saturday is until 11am (although food finished much earlier)

Free internet

PRICE: note that room price depends on occupancy levels. Seems like they charge the same price whether you stay alone or with the family, kids etc

Something else: not sure why but our room keys did not work from the beginning. We had to change the two keys probably 5-6 times during our 2-day stay. That was a continued nuisance.

Otherwise, and especially given the low price, it's quite a good choice for solid 3-star hotel (not 4-stars). People call it an oasis of paradise. I would rather call it ‘’Pretense of paradise with some minor problems’’

“Much better than expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2011

I have been pleasantly surprised by the high standards of rooms at Jade with beautiful decor, nice amenities and a pleasant athmosphere. Rooms are much nicer than some 4 or 5 star hotels I have stayed in earlier. Nicely located in between UN area and the Old Centre. A nice gem and a definite recommendation.

“Much better than some 4 stars hotels”

We stayed in Jade Hotel on March 2011.
We booked through lastminute.com and got an excellent price - about € 85/night. For Geneva it's a reallly good price!!! Considering the price we paid, we had low expectations for our room :).
Fortunaly, we were wrong.
Our room was huge. New and very well decorated, in neutral tones.
The bathroom was modern and super clean.
The hotel is situated in a quiet street, but very near the tram stop and just a 10 minutes walk from the train station.
The staff was polite.
It was the perfect place for our weekend stay in Geneva.
Much better than we expected when we booked.
And much better than some 4 stars hotels.
