The light, airy feel of the rooms depicted in the photos on Residence Mont Blanc's official website did not correlate to my apartment at all. Dark furniture, dated color schemes, tacky artwork -- it seemed like a decorator last touched the apartment 20 years ago. But, hey, the cleaning staff was kind.

I stayed at the Residence a few times over a period of months, and found the rooms to be spacious and clean. The front desk was very welcoming, and well equipped with lots of brochures and information - almost as good as the main tourist office.

The bathroom was elegantly furnished, and the kitchen was equipped with a small selection of basic pans. I can't remember if there are any toilettries supplied - I don't think so.

The location is close to the lake front in Geneva, a short stroll from the train station, and a short stroll into the main banking and shopping area. It is also on the edge of the red-light district - worth bearing in mind if you like wandering around local streets.

A nice touch was the complementary travel cards for Genevan public transport provided with the room card.

There were some things that would have made the experience better, particularly for the first trips when I wasn't so well acquainted with the set-up of the Residence and the amenities nearby:

1) There are no bottles of water provided, and no "welcome pack" for those clients who are staying in the serviced apartments. The "Manor" supermarket nearby is helpful for stocking up on provisions.

2) The coffee machines in the rooms are very temperamental - despite multiple attempts over a period of months, I only managed one decent cup of coffee. The sachets are available from reception, and will be added to your bill.

3) The views from the windows are not particularly inspiring, and the room can be a little too warm despite attempts at setting the air conditioning.

I would summarise the Residence as an effective place to stay for a self-sufficient business traveller - the rooms are of a high standard, but no frills.

I staid in this hotel for 2 months because my company was paying it... otherwise I would have escape the first day.
The hotel is well located (near the train station) but the rooms are very small and noisy (even if I tried 2 different rooms with very different standars).
Internet didn't work correctly. I had a microwave put in a chair because my oven wasn't working. The reception closes very early and the sunday, but even openned it's hard to get the answers to your questions there.
It would be nice for a budget residence, but for a supposed to be 4 stars at this price, you can find much better !

I think the title says it all. I stayed in this hotel for a couple of weeks and really hated to come back every single night. The soundproofing is pretty bad and you can hear your neigbours, or if you are staying on the first floor, the threadmills of the public gym below you. The furniture is very worn and dirty, stained carpets and curtains and scratched table and chairs. The wooden panel of the bed was dirty with someone else's oily head prints. Yuk.

Both bath and kitchen are ok, must have been refurbished quite recently.

The hotel is in the red light district but also close to the lake and old town. I did not feel unsafe, even for me a woman.

Worst thing though is that the staff and even the manager in charge are incredibly rude. I have never experienced such a bad behaviour, especially the head of reception is really really unfriendly, arrogant and on top of that not even capable of working properly. I think the manager of Residence Mont-Blanc knows that there is not much competition and therefore simply does not bother. Very sad - as well for Geneva, as this a place where many buiness travellers come to. I will stay in a hotel next time, or will try to avoid having to stay in Geneva for a longer period if time.
