I stayed here with a colleague for two nights. Geneva is difficult for business travellers as prices are generally high, and quality can be low. But this is the worst I've seen. First, when we checked in, the desk was manned by one of the cleaners who didn't speak English. She gave my colleague a key to someone else's room, did not give us our transport tickets, and didn't take down any of our details. Eventually we settled in our rooms- which were very basic, very hot and stuffy, and there was some blood on my shower curtain. Someone tried to enter my room twice, which made me feel quite unsafe, and there was so much noise it was impossible to sleep. When we left that evening, we were scolded by the person sitting at the check in desk now that we 'forgot' to give our passport details and that we should have waited for other personnel to check us in. Incredible.
We paid 360 francs per room for two nights, which is high even for Geneva standards, but an absolute shameless ripoff for this hotel.

Rooms are small, some of them are facing to a main road with heavy traffic / others to a dark lichthof. Rooms were not very clean, old furniture, dirty carpet and wardrobe.
Cleanliness of the bed and bathroom was ok, but time to time there was no hot water. Not every room has bathroom, the unlucky guests should use the public bathrooms/WC located on the corridor. This is was quite surprising to a 3 star hotel for 170CHF/night in Switzerland...
The location of the hotel is good, Geneva main train station and the lake can be reached within 3 minutes.
Breakfast is ok, medium quality continental food (no hot dish).
No wifi, no minibar.

Montana hotel is located at a very convenient location. Close to the main railay station - get trains for franceand switzerland. One can get a walking distance access to the public transport system which is efficient, comfortable and not at all crowded. Walk to the famous lake is just afew minutes and one can take a liesurly walk even post dinner. Its a beauty of lake and some superb scenes. Nice eating places in the near vicinity. Centrally heated, courteous staff, however, it dos not serve lunch, dinner or offer a cup of morning tea. Morning cup of tea is a must for most Indians. Slightly costly on the pricing front but for the location its worth it. Not very impressive from outside but for a hundred plus years old its nicely kept and gives a personal touch in the service.

We arrived in Geneva at 9pm with nowhere to stay, and Hotel Montana was the cheapest that we could find. The man at the front desk tried to help us out by charging us less for the room than he normally would. He was so nice! The next morning, however, the woman at the desk kept asking me if I was going to check out soon...

The room was pretty standard. It and the bathroom were clean. Breakfast was included and very good. The hotel is located close to the train station. It doesn't take long to walk to the waterfront, but getting to the old part of town takes a while. There are many restaurants nearby. Overall, I thought it was very expensive for what we got, but we were desperate!
