I stayed here for over a week, after getting stranded by the European volcanic ash airline shutdown. I was very happy with the professionalism of the staff, both front desk and housekeeping. This establishment is a good one for English-speaking guests, all front desk staff spoke English well.

Hotel is right by the Rhone river, which was nice. Windows in the room did open, which was nice for the fresh air, but when closed they did block the street noise very effectively.I was given the Geneva Transport Card for free transit use at check-in - another review said they did not give this at check-in, but this was not my experience.

Internet in-room wireless was 5CHF for 30 minutes, or 15CHF for 3 hours (charged as used, good for 7 days). Speed of the connection was good, and I never had a problem finding a signal from my room. There were three English-language channels on the TV in the hotel: CNN International, CNBC, and BBC Entertainment. Room has a radio/IPad charger, coffee/tea maker, and a minibar. No refrigerator in the single, though you can fit one small beverage can into the minibar among the items it comes preloaded with if you want the drink to get cool.

Fruit was put out in front of the restaurant every day for the hotel guests - oranges, apples, pears, bananas. Very useful for a quick snack. I ate most of my breakfasts at the Starbucks Coffee next door, didn't try the breakfast in hotel (which was 25F).

The Hotel Du Midi like all hotels by Lake Geneva is relatively expensive but that apart, it deserves the four star status accorded to it. The biggest factor was the staff at the front desk. They went out of their way to do everything possible to make our stay a comfortable one, including providing restaurant recommendations, phoning to make reservations and even bidding me farewell outside the hotel as I departed. The rooms were adequately provided with the usual toiletries and I appreciated the thermometer on the window to warn us of the temperature outside. The breakfast buffet did not change, but as there was sufficient choice it did not become monotonous. Fruit was provided just outside the breakfast room for us to eat at leisure, and there was free internet access although wifi was difficult at times. It is strategically located about 500metres from the train station, and to the main shops.

location near the lake in the heart of the city is definitely the thing I liked most. The staff is friendly and willing to meet every request. The room was very comfortable, thoroughly cleaned every day. I have not tried the breakfast. If I can make a complaint, I liked the fact that checking in I was not handed the card to the public transport (hotels in Geneva, should always make it available to customers).

Nice centrally located with warm people and warm rooms with good amenities. Walkable distance to River/ lake, shopping malls, railway station, bars,night clubs etc. Good for first time travellers.
