“Cheap is what you get!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011 via mobile

Swiss is an expensive country and really you don't get much for your money. That's true for Le Grenil as well.
The staff is friendly and they do speak english, positive is also the restaurant in the same building, with nice food and nice staff.
The negatives: the beds are horrible, probably from the midseventies and never changed since. The pillows might've been made of concrete.
Everything in the room went in feces colours. Honestly.
Breakfast was bad, more or less just carbs and more sugar. The coffee was below standard.
Tho, if you plan to do more than just hang out in the room and spend money on other things than accomodation (Swiss is as said, expensive) this is still acceptable.

“Worst swiss hotel in my life”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2011

I booked this hotel only because it had parking. When I arrived, I was told that parking was under construction just the three days I was there, which was false. They did not want me to park there for any reason.
The room was very old, with the appearance of a roadside motel.

Correct breakfast and friendly service, but they lied to us, and it's the worst hotel I have ever seen in my life in Switzerland... considering that I live there, I know what I am talking about.

“Very basic”

This hotel is within a walking distance from the University, in a possible less expensive area - still conveniently located close the touristic area. There are some quite reasonably priced restaurants and bars in the vicinity.

The hotel offers very basic (slightly shabby) rooms and breakfast. If you need the room only for sleeping, it's OK. If you have to work in your hotel room, you'd appreciate a larger desk and a bit more space. There is no internet connection for the guests so you have to buy it.

The staff is helpful if you ask help. Otherwise they don't really care.

Guests get a free public transport cards for the duration of their stay. Excellent!

“Horrible”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 June 2011

No hot water on day 1, no locks on the bathroom door, no ari conditioning on a 27C summer day!!! only a fan!, rooms very small, Beds made of rock and pillows as well.
Breakfast minimal and aunts sharing the breakfast on the table everymorning due to poor cleaning!

For a 3 star hotel, terrible value for money. As a reference, a 4 star hotel in Germany cost us less and the breakfast buffet was 10 times better.

My advice: avoid at all costs!

“Le Grenil has friendly staff, well connected by city-bus..”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 May 2011

It was a nice experience in terms of help from hotel staff, their breakfast, bus passes, their internet provision and connectvit to main lake.
It is slightly off from the railway station, may not be very far, but if with luggage, it is not a walking distance.
