Once experienced the average quality of Geneva hotels below 300USD, NH is definitely very recommendable. The overall quality of the service is good and the price is generally OK. However forget the 4 stars and prepare for a super tiny room even if very clean and comfortable.

A very good hotel. Good service, fine rooms. Don't listen to those here on TripAdvisor who says it is no good! They must have expectations far beyond reality.

We know Geneva pretty well and booked the NH Rex unknowingly with Lastminute.com as it was a Top Secret Hotel. Now having stayed there, we think it's probably better kept a secret! The hotel is not located that close to the city center or the lake as described, although to be fair it is very close to a tram stop on Rue de la Servette which is just two stops from Gare Cornavin, which in turn is just a short one stop train ride to the airport. It's a very old style hotel and in desperate need of a refurb - think gold trims, red carpets, tapestry style bedspreads and you get the gist. The bathroom was very new, but the bedroom was shabby, the carpet stained, and the beds averagely comfortable. We were glad it was for just one night, there are better hotels located closer to the Lake for just a little more money, Hotel Kipling or any of the Manotel Group of hotels for that matter would definitely be my choice next time.

Upon check-in to this worn Victorian style hotel on the outskirts of downtown Geneva, we were met by an alarm ringing and a desk clerk un aware of what the ringing sound might be. He tried unsuccessfully to turn the sound off of the alarm and only realized things might be amiss when the smell of smoke filled the lobby. Indeed smoke was coming from the basement and soon filled the hotel. Local fire authorities were fast to arrive and while guests were never at risk and while the front desk attendant was friendly, this is a hotel to completely ignore until it receives a full remodel. Like many other NH properties outside of Spain, this is a dump and should not be chosen deliberately. In our case, we booked rooms through Lastminute.com and it was a "Secret" hotel. While the price was great, this hotel should remain a well kept secret as others "in-the-know" are likely to be more comfortable elsewhere.
