Certainly not 4 star, but they try really hard. Hotel is in a great location especially is using the train. Rooms were a good size. Noise from the street can be loud if the window is open but close it and there is minimal noise. There is also a shutter so sound and light are not an issue. Breakfast was good. reception staff were very friendly and willing to help. Overall it was a good hotel.

This hotel was used for our seventh successive Christmas visit to Berne. It is the nearest one to the railway station, making it one of the best for our need to use the Rail Pass to visit a different winter resort each day. We are also big jazz fans and this hotel secured reservations and big discounts for a concert at their sister hotel a short bus ride away. Close to restaurants to suit all budgets (breakfast only included, but there is a bar/coffe shop that provides snacks during the day.)

This was a total let down to us after travelling round Europe.

We stayed in Room313 and if you get this (or if they are all similar) my thoughts are with you. The rooms are quite stuffy so we wanted to use the A/C in the room, but it would not operate. We asked reception if someone could help us. We had to continue to ask before the reception lady came up, didn't really say much aside from accuse us of having it running all day (we'd just checked in). We got back to her later to ask if we could move rooms or an engineer call to fix it. We were told to open a window (kinda defeats the purpose of their triple glazing to keep the street noise out) and that someone would call us back.. no one did, there were no further checks on us.

The pillow were dreadful. They were as thin as the TV remote control, How can the expect someone to sleep on them? (See picture)

The bathroom had cleanliness issues, with what looked like hairs in the corners!

The breakfast had packed rusks on offer that had a month old use by date on them!

And the room cleaners were trialling some kind of rubbish recycling scheme, where they emptied our room bin bag and left it on the table!? is that in case we still need something out of it?!

Overall very disappointing for this so called quality hotel. All we wanted was a comfortable stay - we never got it. And we felt no one gave two hoots.

Your mileage may vary

Very expensive for what you get - a typical European hotel in terms of the room. I'm not saying there was anything wrong with the room, just expected more for the price. Switzerland ain't cheap! I'd look for alternatives unless proximity to the station is most important.
