The hotel is pleasant enough but the room I was assigned (107 facing the main road) was like a sauna even with all the windows open. I suspect this is because it may have been located above the hotels boiler room. I immediately pointed out that the room was not fit for purpose but the reception staff were unable to re-locate me and suggested I used the fan provided. This was useless and sleeping was really very difficult. With the windows open the temperature dropped slightly but the outside trams and traffic made it to noisy. With the windows closed one simply cooked. My colleague fortunately had a cooler room. The hotel staff clearly know this is a problem and I gather airconditioning is planned. However, in the meantime it is clearly unacceptable to rent out such a room and while they continue to do so one might expect a substantial reduction. Surprisingly, on check out the manager was unwilling to provide more than a 10% reduction on what is already a very expensive price. With regard to the breakfasts....this is OK but nothing to write home about, the beds are very comfortable, nice feather pillows and duvets and the bathroom had a faint smell from the drains. I would not stay here again.
