Convenient locatiion near train station, but tram point in front makes it noisy. Small duvet on bed means an average man can not cover head and feet. Room clean, but as expected at over 350 ChF per night. Breakfast buffet was bland / ordinary at best - Starbucks a better option. At this price in Basel you can do better.

The hotel is just a few steps from Basel's main station. It's a 15-20 minute walk from the old town but all guests receive a city transport pass for the duration of their stay so you can take a tram if necessary. The staff were friendly and efficient. The room was very comfortable with a smart, modern bathroom. There are some nice touches not found in other hotels, including complimentary bottles of water, free ice cream from the bar and a free minibar (soft drinks and juices). The square outside the hotel is lively without being too noisy, and we were not disturbed at all during the night. The breakfast (included in room rate) was excellent.

Nice hotel right in the centre with comfortable and stylish bedroom. Free internet and excellent bedroom. Next door to but much cheaper than the Hilton which must be the ugliest building in Basel

We stayed at the Schweizerhof for just one night on the 25th August 2011,as a stop over with a
Great Rail Journeys tour.The room we were allocated was 505, at the front.
Everything about this hotel was first class. As is fairly normal in Switzerland, the staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful and could not have been better.Although we were only there for one night, we were treated as if we were staying for at least two weeks.
The hotel location is just a stones throw from the main train station,and also the city tram terminus is directly to the front of the hotel.The tram system can take you virtually anywhere in ththe city. I must point out that although the tram service starts very early, at no time were we
aware of any noise from trams or the station.We were of course,on the 5th floor,but no one else in our tour group had any noise problems either.
Our room was excellent and very modern.The shower was almost the size of a wet room and I
can personally recommend it.The bed was very comfortable,and there was plenty of storage space in the room. Our breakfast, again was excellent, and we wished were staying for more than the one night.
Basel is great city with many attractions,and well worth a visit, certainly more than one day to really do it justice.I was based here 40 years ago for a month with my job, and it was a pleasure to come back, although only briefly.
