“GREAT!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

Loved our stay at Hotel Euler. We stayed five nights in December 2011. We had a Junior Suite that was a good size and a great bathroom too. Our room was clean with a comfortable bed and great linens. The staff was great - especially in the restaurant and bar (Marcel and Sebastian). The location was perfect. There was a tram stop right outside the front door which we used daily with the passes the hotel had given us. A couple of minutes walk and you're at the train station.

Room Tip: We were on the top floor - one window overlooking a green area with the other window looking out tow...

“pretty standard hotel, best thing was the location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

we booked this hotel mainly due to its location. its right by the main train terminal in the city. We caught a bus (for a couple of bucks) from the airport and it stopped right outside. Its then about a 20minute walk to the old town, so in heinsight I would rather have stayed closer to there but nevermind. The rooms are ok - they have been renovated so have nice modern bathrooms and decor. You have to go out into the hallway to make a coffee which is a bit annoying, and we couldnt actually get the coffee maker to work which was worse. But they had free fruit which was helpful when heading out for a long walk. Service was ok - nothing to write home about but not bad. There is a starbucks right next door which is also handy.

Room Tip: we had a room at the back and it was really quiet, not sure about the ones facing the main square

“Simply awful.”

Where to start. Check in was quite difficult and lengthy, even though I booked online. Hotel is quite close to where I was doing business, only endearing attribute. The room that I was in had stains on the carpet and bed linens were not the cleanest; the room had clearly housed smokers even though I had requested non-smoking. I found the food selection to be limited and extremely expensive given the quality. The hotel also did not have fitness facilities; in the future I will probably stay at a more modern hotel that is further from my business location because the detrements I have listed here simply do not outweigh the benefits of proximity.

“Nice location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

The most valuable point of the hotel is location; 30 seconds walk from SBB station, where not only the trains but around there were supermarkets, fast foods, post office, and other shops and utility stores. Also, 10 seconds walk to tram stations where you can go to any direction of the city. The room is comfortably average. It was convenient that there were coffee makers on each floor, but they are sometimes stiff to use.

Room Tip: Rooms on the square may be noisy because of trams. Rooms on the other side will be better.

“Really poor experience”

I travel to Basel often on business and stayed at the Hotel Euler for two nights in November 2011 because the normal hotels we use were all fully booked.
My room was terrible for two particular reasons and the service in general was poor.
My room was on the 1st floor over-looking the main square. I could not believe it when I walked into the bathroom and saw there were no curtains or shutters and only the bottom half of the window was frosted. So when using the toilet, shower or wash-basin I was fully visible to overlooking hotels & offices across the street and even an office block where my colleagues work. This problem is obviously long-standing but when I mentioned it to the staff they appeared surprised and asked if I wanted them to put a sheet up. I had to put the shower on until all the windows were steamed-up.
In addition the room was very hot and the a/c didn't work. The response of the staff was "by law no a/c can work in November".

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not overlook the square. As well as being able to shower and use the toile...
