Among the three "big" business hotels in Basel City (Swissotel, Hilton and Radisson), Radisson is the most dissapointing one:
Plus point about the rooms: they are all recently renovated. But as a picky customer, I can't get rid of the rather "cheap" feeling that I don't expect in a 4*: Bright white walls, rather cheap furniture, flooring and equipment. And one may miss "comfort details" hotels of this category get right, e.g. the phone on the desk, a light switch from the bed, or simply a quiet air condition.
Facilities deserve a positive note: There's a nicely equipped gym (24h), a 25m pool, a sauna and a steam bath. Some may complain that the wet areas closes at 10pm, that the pool is not particularly cosy... All true, but for me not an issue.
The factor that can make the stay little enjoyable is service. Don't get me wrong: Staff is friendly most of the time, although they don't try too hard to give the impression that they enjoy their job. The main issue seems in the organization: Cleaning systematically misses some corners or towels, morning checkout cues can be endless, and if you patiently wait for a waiter at lobby bar, this may well make you miss the closing hour of the kitchen. And the only thing their system seems to remember about returning customers is their credit card number...
