Overall this hotel was average. I liked the rooms, they were quite large with flat screen TV with both BBC and CNN channels. Bathroom was TINY and very old but clean. Breakfast was excellent with fruit fruit, yoghurt, cakes, croissants, biscuits, cereal etc. Location was quite far from the historical centre but was closer to the centre than many other hotels. It was about a 1.5km to the centre up lots of steps and steep streets but everywhere in Perugia is like this, it is afterall a city at the top of a mountain. The hotel was close to many buses that go to the centre of town but one set of 100 steps is unavoidable as the hotel is down in a valley and you must climb down from the road to get there can be difficult if arriving on foot(there was a driveway for cars to drive down straight to the hotel entrance).
Be warned...the walls are paper thin on our 1st night our neighbours were talking and watching TV until 2am and we heard every word, even through ear plugs!
The hotel advertises a free shuttle bus to the centre of town. This is false. The shuttle bus is to the Universita Per Stranieri. The centre of town is a further 5-10min steep walk up very steep streets. Also, the shuttle doesn't run Sundays or Public Holidays.
Hotels in the historical centre of town are very expensive. But if you have mobility issues then you might be wise to pay the higher prices to stay there. If you are young and fit then this hotel is fine, there is a lot of walking and climbing but at least you are burning off those calories from the gelato/pasta/pizza you are sure to be eating!!
