“A small hotel but very good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

We stayed at the Hermitage on our trip to Assisi. While the hotel was small, it had all that we needed. The staff were mostly very helpful. The hotel's location is very good. It is inside the city walls in a quieter area. From there you can walk to all the attractions of Assisi very easily. The room we stayed in was small but very clean and comfortable. The price was very reasonable.

“Friendly, comfortable, small hotel centrally located”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2011

The hotel is in a great location, about half way between San Francisco and the main square. It’s a small hotel on a quiet side street. The room was very nice with a comfortable bed and modern bathroom. We were there off season and being the only guests it was very quiet. If you are a light sleeper I would request a room on the 2nd floor. All the rooms on the ground floor open on to the breakfast hallway. Even without guests we could hear the tv in the lobby and the receptionist on the phone so we moved to the second floor where it was peacefully quiet.
The receptionist was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was typical, but good, with fresh bread and rolls, ham, cheese, cereals and juices. Each room has a different artist theme. We had Picasso.

Room Tip: Ask for a room upstairs as all downstair rooms open on the breakfast hallway

“Charming hotel in a fantastic town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 April 2011

Assisi is a lovely, peaceful place and this hotel translates perfectly the town's "vibe". Hermitage is located in a hill, with a gorgeous view of the surroundings and located halfway of both San Francesco and Santa Chiara basilicas, and very close to town's center. So, it's a very good location, indeed.

We stayed for only one night, so we went to the hotel with very few luggage. I would recommend that to everyone, as there are some stair steps to climb to reach the hotel - heavy luggage would be a pain. And, due to the ZTL (Limited Traffic Zone), I had to park my car outside of the town, so have that in mind before carrying a lot of stuff into the hotel.

Rooms are small, but clean and comfortable. Supposedly there was free internet on every room, but signal was too weak at my room - I had to go to reception to get some access. By the way, the hotel doesn't have service all night - after 11 pm you have to call a phone number.

The best thing about Hotel Hermitage is its comfort and the worst is the breakfast - very simple. There are some cafés not far from it, if you need some reinforcement. But I sure recommend this hotel and would go back when in Assisi (and I surely will go back there in the future).

Room Tip: Try and get a room with a view of the region

“Good value hotel.”

A nice hotel. A bit hard to find (take the bus from the train station, get off at the car park at the bottom of the town (stop 2?) and go through the stone arch, and take the road the forks to the left. Not the left turn, the left fork. A few hundred meters on the left, up the stairs -- reception is actually between two level of street), but a nice place to stay. Easy on the wallet -- room is small, but adequate, same for the batchroom and breakfast. Very clean and fairly quiet when I was there, but there may be a club on the lower floor. Basically, it is adequate -- next time I may go a little more on the spend for a different spot, but this was definitely good value for the money.

“Cute family hotel, very clean, great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2010

The owner and her son with both very friendly and helpful, especially with getting around town and restaurant recommendations. The room and bathroom were very clean, and breakfast was basic but nice. The view from our room was beautiful, and the hotel was in a convenient location. The free internet connection was a nice bonus. The bed was firmer than I prefer, but my husband loved it, so to each his own. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel to friends.
