We were given a room that had views from the front & the side looking out over the valley to the Appennines, absolutely breathtaking,so magical at night with all the glowing lights.Unfortunately our room was a 2 star, washbasin didn't drain properly,a very noisy exhaust fan,tv very old & wouldn't tune & worse,no hot water! After complaining to management we were given another room that was 4 star,(should have had this standard in the beginning). It was an inconvenience to be packing up & moving at 9.45pm.We loved the position of the Hotel, one of the few that had free car parking, which was great. The breakfast was plentiful with a good choice & fabulous views to enjoy at the same time.We would stay here again, staff were very polite & obliging & we enjoyed exploring this lovely historic hilltop town.

Having been pleased with the welcome and the room with its wonderful view, we were very disappointed with the breakfast. We ate at 8.30am and it looked as though there had been a large group in before us and the hotel was not bothering with anyone after that. The appalling coffee/tea came from a vending machine, there was no fruit at all, some spam type ham and one sort of processed cheese, only natural joghurts, miserable looking bread and croissants, and worst of all, lurking in the only 'hot ' container, just cold, congealed, burnt scrambled egg. Admittedly, breakfast did not last long, but at no time did we see any staff, until we left and caught sight of two waitresses who looked as though they were sitting having a coffee in a nearby room. I'll bet the coffee wasn't from the machine.

A quite little retreat. This place is gorgeous, immaculatly clean, and truly welcoming. We were thrilled with our stay. We had a balcony view of the region with rolling hills. The hotel was midevil charm with modern accomidations. We were very happy with the breakfast and the staff was excellent. Our stay was wonderful! Thanks!

We had the pleasure of staying four glorious nights at the Hotel Giotto. Our first impression: we were stunned by the panoramic views (the website just cannot do this justice - you have to "be there" to experience it, and let yourself be overwhelmed!) - and at the same time we were warmed by the hospitality of the staff, and comforted by their professional manner. Understated elegance abounds at Hotel Giotto, and even with the gorgeous renovations and modern amenities, we still felt as though we'd stepped back in time where we could slow down and savor every minute of our stay at this magical place. The food at the restaurant was excellent...starting with the amazing breakfast spread, enjoyed outside overlooking the glorious Umbrian valley. Breakfast is included - and make sure you don't miss it - it was a treat with fresh yogurts and fruits, six types of cereals, two different fresh juices (one day there was a Sacher torte), several types of cornettos, selection of breads and meats for panninis, hardboiled eggs, jams, stewed prunes...and delicious coffee. We also enjoyed two dinners at the fine restaurant - high cuisine showcasing Umbria's finest specialties including pasta with black truffles, delicious meats, and very special desserts. And a wonderful and carefully chosen wine list. Hotel Giotto treated us like family...(royal family!). We spent many hours reading on the large balcony enjoying Umbrian wine and taking in the inspirational scenery. We weren't expecting or dreaming of perfection...but that's certainly what Giotto delivered. We can't wait for next summer when we will return (and this time, more than 4 nights!). If you are looking for a quiet, romantic, historic and beautiful place...Assisi and Hotel Giotto are a truly a winning combination.
