We hiked in and out of Le Silve as part of a 'self-guided' walking tour package. The bar staff very kindly opened up to serve us drinks that first hot afternoon (from a North American point of view, we were just a bit mystified that the bar should close at 4 and the restaurant not open till 7:30 or 8...). Our room had thick stone walls and enough windows to let us enjoy the mountain breezes. Well-appointed bathroom, minibar and safe, a lovely sitting room down the hall, a small library and a free Internet station completed our comfort. Great bed. The food took advantage of seasonal produce from zucchini to summer truffles, and the waiter made some excellent wine recommendations (no wines by the glass, unfortunately). There are paths all around the property for more hiking. We chose to spend most of our free day at the panoramic pool with its stunning views of Mt. Subasio and the valley. I don't know how well this would work as a touring base for the region if you are a car tourist, but it was a delightful place to rest up.

We drove several miles out of Assisi on very windy roads to reach this hotel in order to eat in the restaurant. What a disappointment. The service was unprofessional and the food of poor quality. A waste of effort and money. Don't bother making all that effort.

Friendly staff run this lovely hotel in a beautiful location. However the restaurant food is over-priced & not as good as they seem to think. The menu is large but did not change in the 4 days we were there, also the same menu for lunch ie little pasta , no salads etc.

Perfect place for communing with nature but don't expect to be commuting to nearby towns as the narrow and winding road (2kms of it is dirt) will put you off.

Peaceful, tranquil, quiet. Not at all the normal tourist trap. Very pleasant lodge-type hotel with an excellent restaurant.
