Our stay at Il Chiostro del Carmine was delightful. After arriving by bus, we walked about 15 minutes through the city centre to Il Chiostro. Upon arrival, Jean-Pierre --whose English is perfect-- informed us that we had been upgraded to deluxe accommodations. He made sure we knew our way around the premises, and that we could find our way around Siena. He proceeded to show us up the stairs to our spacious room. It was beautiful, and the bathroom was enormous!
After Jean-Pierre made sure we were comfortable, we ventured out for a moonlight walk around the city. We popped into an alimentari for some fresh local food and a bottle of wine which we brought back to the monastery. Jean-Pierre supplied the corkscrew. Our lovely room had a door that opened onto a rooftop patio, where we enjoyed our finds al fresco. Magical.
After a perfect night's sleep, we were treated to an expansive breakfast buffet in the sunlit dining room, with impeccable table service. Jean-Pierre was still on duty, and made sure that we had all of our questions answered, including advising us about travel options and providing clear maps, before we set out to enjoy Siena,
Il Chiostro is beautiful, and every staff member we encountered was charming and welcoming. We will be back!
