“Great Location and Great Deal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

I've stayed at this place a couple of times. It's a little difficult to locate, but you can't be the deal. The rooms are quite large for European standards. Everything is clean and you are right in the middle of town. This is an excellent deal. I suggest going around the corner and eating at Ristorante Guido! It's a great place to eat. They have a truffle pasta that is absolutely great! I used to have friends that worked there and unfortunately they moved. I love Siena, it's always been a fun place for me.

Room Tip: Go for one of the bigger rooms if you are there for a couple of days. The showers have jets and are...

“Enter through Flowers to Real Style”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

Don't be put off by the unassuming entrance. If you didn't know it was there - just a small plaque on the post box inside the entry foyer to tell you its on the third floor, past the flower shop, right off the main shopping street - you would never find it. What agreat find it was. Like someones old home. Though the concierge lacks a certain amount of wit and charm , he is authenitcally Siena - brusque, dismissive and just the slightest bit patronising, which I love. The Designated Spouse Equivalent and I foudn it quite by accident and were delighted by the size of the room and the bathroom. Great shower heads, comfortable beds, quiet even with the windows open at night, clean, beautiful tiled floors and hulkng great pieces of dark wood furniture that glower at you in dark, but in a good way. Use the stairs as the elevator sounds like its about to go horizontal and give up on all that up and down business. Broad stone stairs with gorgeous doors all the way down. Breakfast a little mean but who cares?

“Overrated”

Nice rooms and decor, and spot on location in the centre, but the entrance is via a private house, and you have to make your way through a busy flower shop in the doorway to go to the backyard to access the lift..The residence is on the 3rd floor, but you have more stairs to negotiate before you reach the reception.
The reception staff have a superiority attitude and you hardly get a look if you go in or out, which for a 10 rooms hotel is unpleasant.
Breakfast room only have 5 tables
If you arrive on a busy day you have to wait your turn.Breakfast is just adaquate, but on the self service table you dont get more than 5 slices of ham and cheese at any one time ! Finally if you leave before 8 in the morning there is no receptionist to pay your bill and you get no breakfast before that time neither!!!!!

“Anywhere but here”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

My husband, daughter and I stayed here just last week for three nights. The only good thing about this property is the loation near the Piazza de Campo.

The price was 255 euros per night for each room. While the rooms were a decent size, they were musty and not overly clean. The showers in the bathrooms had great water pressure, however the doors would not stay open and I got my leg caught in the doors everytime I was trying to get out.

The first morning my husband and I went to breakfast there were no avaliable tables (only a total of 6- 2 person tables are in the small breakfast room). I went to the lobby to wait for a table to open and the day clerk(?) at the reception desk was exceedingly surly and unpleasent when I mentioned (to someone else) that there were no available tables. And that is the nicest thing I can say about any of the reception clerks. Sury, unhelpful, ignored us, didn't offer to assist with our lugage either when we arrived or left. Did not offer to assist in obtaining a taxi when we left. It was all we could do to get an internet code. Just unpleasant.

The rooms are three floors up and there is an elevator but then there are a series of steps down from the elevator to the hotel lobby. Fortunately we were all young enough and strong enough that it was not difficult for us. If my 80 year old parents had been with us it would have been impossible.

Also, there is no parking for the hotel, except outside the city walls, which we were told was within a reasonable walking distanceto the hotel. That didn't bother us until we arrived and realized that a "reasonable" walking distance meant 15 minutes, up hills and up
stairs with luggage. We called a taxi. So in addition to the room costs we spent 14 euro each way on taxis and 23 euro each day for parking.

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Poor service and poor value. I would rate this as a 2 star hotel (at best).

“A great find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2011

This is a wonderful hotel in a great location on a picturesque main street in Siena's Centro Storico, but hidden away three floors up, so there is no problem with street noise. The hotel is in easy walking distance from the Campo and all the main sights of Siena. It is also walking distance from the bus station, which is helpful for side trips to Tuscan towns. We were upgraded to a superior double room which was large and comfortable, with rough-hewn wood beams, antique furniture, a small breakfast table, and a view of the rooftops of Siena. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially Luigi. The hotel offers free WiFi to guests. Staying here was a real treat.

Room Tip: Choose a room away from the bustle of the main street.
