“Once-in-a-lifetime experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

Astounding view once we get up into the room. I lost my breath in the first 10 seconds, seriously. It happened that Siena's tower was closed due to the snow so I am glad we booked this hotel. Though Tuscany was still covered in snow when we were there, I can totally imagine what it will be like in Spring. Wish I could visit again. Owner's son Nicholas was very nice and helpful.

Room Tip: Could be cold if Tuscany gets cold. Good thing Tuscany is not always like it was when we were there.

“The most unique hotel we stayed at on our trip - and a lifetime of memories for my children”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

This is not a conventional hotel - rather, it is an 800 year old castle converted into a small B&B in the countryside just outside of Siena. It is hard to find - especially if you are arriving at night by car - but once you arrive, you will be amazed. The lobby is a dimly lit ward covered by a four story high ceiling with vaulted arches holding it up. The rooms are all up a steep stone stairs to the side. The decor of our room was clean and comfortable, but rustic and has a definite 19th century antique feel about it - entirely appropriate for staying in an 800 year old hotel room. My children spent hours running around the property playing who-knows-what imaginary Renaissance Tuscan adventure. Breakfast was upstairs, in the dining on the top floor of the castle, where the family that runs the hotel lives. After breakfast, Nicola led us through his library to a spiral stairs that led up to one of the look out towers, giving us amazing views of Siena and the surrounding countryside. My children still talk about their stay in this hotel as one of the highlights of Italy.

One minor warning: there are cats on the premises (not in the rooms, although they roam freely in the common areas, no doubt keeping this 800 year old structure rodent free). This is probably not a bother for 90% of travelers and certainly didn't bother us either, but for that other 10%, be advised.

“Wow...just...wow!”

This was our favorite stop in our entire Italy trip. History is the reason we visited Italy and in Castello delle Quattro Torra, we felt part of it. The B&B is located up on a hillside just outside of Siena, maybe 5 minutes. The views from the castle are fantastic and it oozes history. Our hosts were genuinely friendly and our morning breakfast tremendous. Can't say enough other than if I am blessed enough to return to Italy - Siena will again be a stop and this will be our choice to stay.

“Unique experience with wonderful hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

We stayed here for 3 nights and truly loved the experience. Best to have a car to travel easily to Siena (Nicola can advise good parking places in town). The building and it's location is magnificent. For a castle the rooms are better than most hotels (eg piping hot water and lots of it, good wifi, very clean and well equipped etc) We stayed 2 nights in the fully equipped apartment and 1 night in the Blu Room so enjoyed lots of different views of Tuscany. Nicola is really keen to help and tell you about places to visit. The breakfast is lovely also. I really can't fault this place!

“Excellent Stay!”

My husband and I stayed here in late August and I have to say it was a definite highlight of our trip! Nicola was wonderful- he is very sweet and so helpful, and the views from the castle can't be beat!

It is a bit out of the way from the main area of Siena and I would probably recommend having a car to stay here. We stayed in the Blue room, which was very spacious and the bed was really comfortable. It has a TV and wifi, not AC, but there is really no need for it. We were here in late August and the sleeping temp was perfect. It is very peaceful here, we spent an afternoon just relaxing and enjoying the views and the breeze!

Nicola served us breakfast every morning, and he was very accommodating with the time! Our favorite was the warm croissants served with delicious homemade jam and fresh fruit!

If you don't get to stay in the tower room, one of the towers is accessible to climb up and enjoy the views and to get some great pictures of the Tuscan countryside.

The castle is surrounded by olive bushes and grape vines, and you can actually purchase wine and olive oil from the castle. It has a picture of the castle on the label- a tasty souvenir!

Staying here was a wonderful! If you are looking for a peaceful, unique experience, this is the place to stay!
