If you want to explore Tuscany this Agriturismo B&B is an excellent base. Owners do not speak English, but try very hard to be helpful. You cannot really walk to town, first because there are no sidewalks and Italian drivers drive too fast. And second, it is really 5 kilometers (not 3 km as the internet site says, which is technically Siena city limits but there's nothing there). During the week there are buses every half hour to Siena, but if there's a strike, which happens, then you're stuck. On Sundays the bus service is minimal. The rooms have floor tiles with no rugs like Italian homes. If you are lucky, that won't matter. If you're not, you might get a guest staying above you who invites his whole family from town to have a "festa" until 1 am. Generally, it's very quiet and beautiful. Service is spotty, but if you ask for something (clean towels, toilet paper , etc.) you'll get it right away. Washer & dryer are available at cost. They have internet connection, but it is not quite what North Americans are used to (one wireless stick to be shared among 8 guests, without a check-in check-out sheet with just the owners shuttling among the guests with stick in hand).
