“Gorgeous place!”

Lovely rooms tastefully decorated in the Tuscan style. Amazing views of rolling green hills from our patio. Ideally located about 10 miinutes outside Siena. 4 of us shared the 1 bedroom apartment. Ample space with a well equipped kitchenette. Helpful staff despite language barrier. Highly recommend this place!

Room Tip: Ask for rooms facing the green hills. Lovely view!

“Absolutely wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 June 2011

We are a small family (mom/day and 1 daughter, 11 years old) and are enjoying a 2-week trip through Italy. We have a rental car that we picked up in Milan, and are basically working our way down the country.

In Tuscany, we stayed in the 4-person suite for 4 nights, and actually hated to leave... it was that pleasant of a stay. We used it as a base for exploring Siena (and other hill towns), Florence, and Pisa.

For one, as mentioned in other reviews, there is certainly a language barrier with the staff. But, the staff is very helpful regardless. We arrived quite late (almost 10pm), and the owner had already gone home for the night, but she still made an effort to get us settled into our room with a smile!

About the apartment... the kitchen is fully stocked, including coffee and coffee maker (one of those screw-together expresso pots), plates, glasses, and utensils. Our apartment (which is the one right up the stairs you see in the pictures) included a fridge, dishwasher, oven, and stove as well. Everything was absolutely spotless and well maintained.

Although this says it's a one-bedroom apartment, the main room has a couch that makes out into a bed with a curtain for privacy and a bathroom, and the bedroom is separate room (with a locking door) with a separate bathroom as well. Needless to say, after spending the last week with the 3 of us all stuffed into small European hotel rooms, having some privacy for my wife and I was a welcome relief...

The rooms were beautifully furnished in nice wood period-style pieces. Wooden shudders cover the doors and windows. This is good and bad... with no screens and water nearby, we were unable to leave windows open at night due to the mosquitoes. Probably the only negative I can think of was the bed; it wasn't horribly comfortable, and the railing at the foot of the bed was a hassle (I'm 6' 4" tall).

Breakfast was provided via a coupon that you used at a bit of a strange place down the street, and included a coffee and some kind of roll or croissant that you can eat while listening to blaring Italian pop music. We used it the first day, but ended up finding a COOP supermarket nearby where we stocked up on more substantial breakfast supplies.

Overall, I can't recommend this place enough... it was a wonderful experience, and I would stay here again in a second!

“Wish we could have stayed longer”

This was one the best places we stayed when we were traveling in Italy. Our apartment was spotless and well equipped with everything you would need including cooking. The staff was super friendly, even though there was a language barrier, they were willing to try to understand what you are saying and even taught us some Italian words while we taught them some English. The views were amazing and the place is in a great proximity to view other towns in Tuscany.

The one downside is there aren't screens on the windows, so even on cool nights we couldn't keep the windows open.

“A good base for Siena - preferably if you have a car”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2009

We stayed in their comfortable and spacious 2 bedroom apartment during the Palio Festival for 2 nights. I really do think it was the most reasonably priced option I could find for the 4 of us during this more expensive period. They were also also happy for a 2 night booking when others required 3 or 4 nights. I enjoyed staying away from the crowds when I needed a break. The owner is a little shy but she was always helpful. There is a communal washing machine on the property. We didn't use the apartment kitchen, except for breakfast, so cannot really comment on it. Siena is extremely elegant - it actually takes your breath away when you see Il Campo for the first time. And to be there during Palio - was unbelievable. We spent a lovely few hours swimming at Piscina Luxor which is a few km's away.

“Recommending with reservations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2009

If you want to explore Tuscany this Agriturismo B&B is an excellent base. Owners do not speak English, but try very hard to be helpful. You cannot really walk to town, first because there are no sidewalks and Italian drivers drive too fast. And second, it is really 5 kilometers (not 3 km as the internet site says, which is technically Siena city limits but there's nothing there). During the week there are buses every half hour to Siena, but if there's a strike, which happens, then you're stuck. On Sundays the bus service is minimal. The rooms have floor tiles with no rugs like Italian homes. If you are lucky, that won't matter. If you're not, you might get a guest staying above you who invites his whole family from town to have a "festa" until 1 am. Generally, it's very quiet and beautiful. Service is spotty, but if you ask for something (clean towels, toilet paper , etc.) you'll get it right away. Washer & dryer are available at cost. They have internet connection, but it is not quite what North Americans are used to (one wireless stick to be shared among 8 guests, without a check-in check-out sheet with just the owners shuttling among the guests with stick in hand).
