“Wonderful Place to Stay (Especially for Families)”

We were very surprised to read some of the negative comments about Le Meridiane. Our stay at Le Meridiane and Siena was the highlight of our trip to Italy. We stayed in Apt 4A ; we had a beautiful view of the olive groves on the property. The Apartments are very well maintained and clean, with huge windows. You can hear the rooster crow in the morning! We would eat out on the porch; no, it's not fancy but still very pleasant. The kitchen is very well equipped. The pool is also very nice and it's great to relax there during the afternoons, especially when your kids are tired (and cranky) after the morning out. It is possible to walk to the center of Siena, but the trails are steep and hilly at some points. We would often walk one way and take the bus back. Later in the evenings you can drive into town, since finding parking gets easier in the evening. Angela was wonderful- she was very helpful and patient and went out of her way to assist us. The price of the apartment was unbelievably low compared with all the other apartments and B & Bs we stayed in. We highly recommend Le Meridiane and would go back there on future trips.

“Did not like Le Meridiane.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2007

The worst thing about our apartment was the lack of a decent private area to sit outside - no terrace, just a scrubby corner on a slope with nothing to look at but the hedge. The apartment was very dark inside (forgiveable bearing in mind the building's original purpose as part of an olive farm) but also cheaply furnished and poorly equipped. Some very petty rules and regulations too - no check-in outside the hours of 3 to 7 pm (even if flight is delayed) and no access to the reading/games room after 7.00pm, even to borrow the Scrabble game. These rules are enforced even though reception is manned outside these hours. All that said, location is very convenient for Siena city centre, which is lovely, and the accommodation was cheap by Tuscan standards. Pool area had good facilities and was well kept too. Staff dealt with a plumbing problem very quickly. Wouldn't go back though!

  • Liked — Convenience of location
  • Disliked — Outdoor seating area

“ok if you get the right unit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 June 2007

A nice place if you get the right apartment. We had a week booked for a one bedroom in mid May. When we got there and was shown the apartment I cried...it was so tiny, and dark, no views or anything. A one bedroom and bath, which was ok but the rest of it was just a room with the stove, etc. and in the same room was a small couch to sit on and a table. I could not see us living in this place a week. So, we were shown several others that were available and took a larger, nicer unit - 2 br and 2 baths, (100 euros more)which we really did not need but it was brighter with a nice patio, etc. so took it.Angela was very nice and helpful and said we didn't have to stay or be charged the whole week just would keep the 30% deposit. So we did take it for a few days but found another much better place a short distance north in quiet Chianti. We had been to Sienna before and hoped this would be nearer the center. If you wanted to walk (20 min??) it was thru a very rustic, overgrown steep area that we would not attempt, so either had to drive (busy traffic) or take a bus or cab which we did. Grocery shopping was difficult to get to but all in all if you don't mind being out and away from the center it was ok. Angela was helpful and nice with directions, etc.It was in a residential (apartment hi rises) area - nothing near enough by for eating or groceries - one tiny place usually closed or the other pizza.

  • Liked — nice size of second apartment we were moved to. first one unacceptable - had to pay more for better unit.
  • Disliked — too far from center of town and hard to get there- walking not suitable, had to drive the busy streets and difficult to find...cab expensive . bus ok.

I stayed at Le Meridiane for 3 nights at the beginning of March 2007 on recommendation
of a colleague who stayed there recently.
I actually moved from Germany to Italy(Rome) very recently because of my job and on week-ends
I grasp the opportunity to go sight seeing in this wonderful country.
I must say that Sienna is absolutely beautiful (my favourite Tuscan town!).
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time at
Le Meridiane. The location is perfect: only 2 Kms from the town centre (we walked to town in 20 minutes),
yet very peaceful and surrounded by olive groves.
The apartments are neatly furnished, warm and very clean.
The personnel at the reception was very helpful and ready to give us information on the area, in English
and German, which made everything a lot easier for me, since my Italian is still very weak!
When I'll visit Sienna again, I will definitely choose again Le Meridiane!
