“Le Meridiane”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2010

Three women stayed in a 2 BR for 4 nights. We enjoyed being outside the city for quiet. Our rooms were compact but comfortable & clean. More light required in the living room area, especially for reading and the beds are definately hard. Also, a plug in coffee maker would be a nice addition. We had some lunches on the patio enjoying being in the outdoors & the surrounding grounds were lovely. The bus was a 1 euro, 15 min. ride to Siena & only a 5 min walk to the bus stop. Reception was available to answer questions, provide bus tickets & called a taxi for our final departure. Units will probably vary in comfort depending on size and location on the property. We enjoyed our stay.

“Excellent value and great "home base" for Tuscan day trips”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2009

We stayed here for a week in May with our 21 year old daughter and enjoyed it very much. We were looking for a reasonably priced place with two bedrooms and a kitchen conveniently located for day trips around Tuscany. This was it. It is not luxurious but is clean and comfortable and well maintained. It is on the edge of Siena but is NOT rural, so don't expect an tranquil agriturismo in the countryside. But it does still have an olive grove next to it and so doesn't feel like you are the middle of the city either. If you are staying for more than a day or two, I think you would want to have a car to. The walking and bus options are OK, but might get a little tiresome after a few days. We had a car and thought it was great. Could easily get groceries, etc. Do venture into the center of Siena in the evening after the day time crowd thins out and walk around - very lovely.

I also recommend picking the unit carefully. After reading some of the earlier reviews, I asked for specific photos and descriptions of the units prior to reserving, to make sure we had one with good light and good location. I could see that a couple of the "basement" units might be a little claustrophobic.

“Highway noise a big minus”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2009

I had read numerous reviews of this place, but none mentioned the highway noise. It was significantly loud with the windows open. The walk to town is also very noisy, not a pretty walk in the woods. The apt was functional, but not charming or pretty. The pool is not heated, so it is very cold. Not a place I would return to.

“Relaxed in Sienna”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2008

Thank you to Angela for making our stay so wonderful! She was very flexible and accommodating when we found out we could only make a reservation in Firenze at the Uffizi the Saturday we were suppose to check in. Luckily, Angela waited for us and we were able to get into the Uffizi an hour earlier. We took the train from Firenze to Sienna then took a taxi to Le Meridiane (it cost around 8-9 Euro). We stayed in a lovely one bedroom apartment on the ground floor with a terrace where we ate most of our meals. My children loved the pool and outside chess set. The views were fantastic. We had just come from Rome so we needed to have some down time before continuing on...

On Monday, we had reservations in Pisa, Angela made taxi reservations as we had to leave around 6:30am. The taxi arrived on time and we were off to Pisa on the train. We made it home in the afternoon for a swim.

The next couple of days we walked into Sienna. It took about 25-30 minutes with an elevator ride and a couple of sets of steps.

We bought our groceries in town near the bus stop. We dined alfresco on our patio using the barbecue at Le Meridiane.

Note there is a newer mall across from the train station which was not in our Rick Steves book - take the bus on the lower level of the mall to return to Le Meridiane.

“Great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2008

We stayed here 5 days. Found it through Tripadvisor and contacted the property directly. Rate: 125 euros, which is really cheap.
Nice apartment, clean, rather large bedrooms and bathrooms, not luxurious. Pool is great with kids, and especially when it is 90 degrees.
Half a mile down the road is a little supermarket and a fantastic coffeeshop/bar/pizza restaurant, open 7-10.
Siena is a beautiful city and a great hub to explore Tuscany.

  • Liked — It was an apartment with kitchen, terras, etc. Price was good.
