“Just needs a little tlc”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011

The hotel is indeed in need of clean up and repairs . The wallpaper in the halls has numerous stains from time . The plaster is chipping in the common area. When one drives up a cement mixer and trailer are the first things seen. The circular drive with garden in center is overgrown and ugly.the boxwoods haven't been trimmed in hrs. Come on guys. This place could be stunning with a little elbow grease
There is no music or flowers in the lobby. How about an appetizer menu at least make the place come alive? The bones of the place are perfect. Get a gardener! The pool has black mold on the edges. This is fixable. Get some new colorful patio furniture pads and teak seating. The help is tired. The lady serving thebfast was great. The food was ample. The one man at desk could care less if we were there even though we the customer keep his job safe. The location though out of way was perfect. Inside the walls is hot and chaotic. The rooms were clean. Overall, a charming villa. I hope they clean it up. I did not experience smog from cars or trucks. A trip through the woods of property was beautiful. We ran into a mosseleum, fruit trees, and old structures scattered in the woods. The ac worked just fine.

“This is very special.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2011

We stayed here for just one night whilst touring Tuscany in our own car, and cannot wait to return. It is a slice of history, and like another reviewer said just like "Remains of the Day". The rooms are exquisite, like staying in a luxury villa, and everything is clean, tidy and of real quality. Yes, some of the outside is a little faded, but for us this only adds to the charm of the place. It is located in its own large grounds with plenty of free parking, which is a major plus point in Siena. We heard no noise from any road, nor any fumes of any sort! It is a good walk into the centre, or you can take the bus from just outside, and then a taxi back as we did. It really is the perfect place for seeing Siena, and they even opened the bar when we returned, so we enjoyed a bottle late at night out in the grounds. This is very special, but keep it quiet or everyone will be going there!

“We travelled back to "Remains of the Day"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 May 2009

Wow. With no reservation for accommodation in Siena, we arrived at dusk with no map, and no idea which direction to go in. Both of us were exhausted, and after driving thru chaotic traffic, my sister remembered seeing a sign as we were heading into Siena. It turned out to be the best part of our journey.

The hotel had just reopened at the end of March for the 2009 tourist season. This is a beautiful hotel that was once a private residence. The main building serves as the hotel, and a smaller home has been renovated for a spectacular restaurant. We were greeted by Francesco, who in another time, would have been Anthony Hopkin's butler in "Remains of the Day". Fluent in English, he welcomed us to this magnificent hotel.

The hotel is located approx. 10 minutes from the center of Siena, however it has free parking. Rooms are large and nicely decorated. Big 5 piece bathroom, bed is very comfortable, and the room extremely quiet.

We chose to dine at the restaurant and had the wonderful experience of meeting Enis, whose husband is the chef. A small but well rounded menu. Only disappointment was not being able to order a glass of wine - full bottle service only. The food was beautifully prepared, with each dish was cooked to perfection. The steak is a specialty of Tuscany, and is prepared medium rare. When I questioned this, Enis waylaid my concerns, and presented a piece of beef that could be cut with a fork. Delicious.

The cost of the room was Euro 130/night, and included a lovely breakfast. Eggs and bacon could be ordered, and the selection in the breakfast room included juices, cereals, yoghurt, sweet buns.
